Jolly good show!

RVS staff and volunteers answered hundreds of enquiries from visitors at this year’s Royal Welsh Show, which took place on 18-21 July in Llanelwedd, near Builth Wells. Service Delivery Managers Tricia Hughes and Wendy Marshall organised small teams to take up their posts from 9am until 5pm at four information points around the showground. They helped showgoers find everything from the first aid tent to the location of the dry stone walling area to the time of the last shuttle bus. Pictured are Clive Hedon and Kate Evans from Neath, taking time out to enjoy an ice cream, and Velindre Hospital volunteers Ann and Glenda.

WRVS Resilience and Recovery team helped during an incident in Swansea on 16 June where tyres were burning on an industrial estate. The team responded after receiving a call from South Wales Police asking for their support. Residents in the area were asked to stay indoors with closed windows, and a police cordon was established to help prevent the inhalation of noxious fumes. At 9.30pm the team stood down. Chief Superintendent Mark Mathias was extremely grateful to the volunteers for their support.
