undreds of people recently turned out for the open day at Maidenhead’s best-kept secret. The WRVS Centre on York Road opened their doors to the public, letting them find out all the great things on offer there. The volunteer-run centre had demonstrations of line dancing, tai chi, yoga and reflexology, as well as offering taster sessions of manicures, pedicures and massages. The

Sometimes stranded in their homes, cut off by snow and ice and enduring sub zero temperatures, it was a tough season for the less able. Our fantastic Resilience and Recovery volunteers did their bit to ease the burden on the blue light services and local authorities by delivering hot food and drink and checking that people stay warm and safe. It was a great effort by all! We are keen to encourage more of you to volunteer and provide help when required. All you need is a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and to attend relevant training in things like health and safety and food hygiene. All your travel will be reimbursed.
