Senedd meeting for volunteers

N

early 40 WRVS volunteers from Wales attended an event at the Senedd to call on their Assembly Members to invest more funding in preventative care. The volunteers, who were picked to attend the event because of their years of dedication, took the opportunity to discuss with Assembly Members the issues affecting older people in their community. “This event was a really great opportunity for our volunteers – who are in contact with older people day in, day out – to talk to policy makers about how we can make Wales a great place to grow old,” says WRVS Head of Services for Wales Sally Rivers. “With the draft Social Services Bill high on the political agenda, our volunteers made sure Assembly Ministers know which issues are most important to older people in Wales.” Labour AM for Pontypridd Mick Antoniw said: “WRVS volunteers do a tremendous amount of work in Wales, particularly in the National Health Service. I have had the pleasure of visiting WRVS volunteers at work numerous times over the past months, and have always been extremely impressed to see the tremendous service they offer to our community.”

aeth bron i 40 o wirfoddolwyr y WRVS o bob cwr o Gymru ynghyd mewn digwyddiad yn y Senedd i alw ar Aelodau’r Cynulliad i fuddsoddi mwy o arian mewn gofal ataliol. Penderfynodd y gwirfoddolwyr, a ddewiswyd oherwydd eu blynyddoedd o ymroddiad, fachu ar y cyfle i drafod gydag Aelodau’r Cynulliad y materion sy’n effeithio ar bobl ˆ hyn yn eu cymunedau. “Roedd y digwyddiad yn gyfle gwych i’n gwirfoddolwyr – sydd ˆ o mewn cysylltiad â phobl hyn ddydd i ddydd – siarad â’r bobl sy’n llunio’r polisïau ynglyn ˆ â sut y gallwn ni wneud Cymru’n lle gwych i bobl heneiddio,” meddai Sally Rivers, Pennaeth

Gwasanaethau Cymru y WRVS. “Gyda’r Bil Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol drafft ar frig yr agenda wleidyddol, aeth ein gwirfoddolwyr ati i ofalu bod Aelodau’r Cynulliad yn gwybod pa faterion sydd bwysicaf i bobl ˆ yng Nghymru.” hyn Meddai Mick Antoniw, AC y Blaid Lafur dros Bontypridd: “Mae gwirfoddolwyr y WRVS yn gwneud llawer iawn o waith yng Nghymru, yn enwedig yn y Gwasanaeth Iechyd Gwladol. Rwyf wedi cael y fraint o weld gwirfoddolwyr y WRVS wrth eu gwaith sawl gwaith dros y misoedd diwethaf, ac mae eu gwasanaeth rhagorol i’n cymuned wedi creu cryn argraff arna i.”
