even dedicated volunteers were presented with longservice medals by Head of Services Sam Ward and Service Delivery Manager Ruth Nice at a West Midlands roadshow this February. The following volunteers were awarded: Bridget Edgar, Jean Cliff, Irene Murphy, Rosemary Ogrady, June Smith, Joan Curnock and Helena Conolly. A total of 40 volunteers from all over the county came to enjoy the company of their fellow volunteers, and local service managers set up displays, presenting all their services. A representative from the Digital Help Scheme came along to offer information on the digital switchover due to take place in the area, and Tim Riggott gave advice to volunteers on the new training packages available on the internet. Finally, Nicola Burns delivered a presentation on Resilience and Recovery services, encouraging people to volunteer. “This was a real success,” says the event’s organiser Allison Cross. “Around eight volunteers decided they would like to volunteer for other services as well as their existing activity. And in addition to this, 20 volunteers said they would like to sign up for R&R services.” “This was a great example of how volunteers from different services in one area are working closely together with an integrated approach,” says Sam Ward.
