NORTHAMPTON
W
RVS volunteers at Northampton General Hospital were pleased to welcome Michael Ellis MP for Northampton North to a gifting ceremony. Mr Ellis presented a cheque for £71,750 to the Trust Manager. WRVS runs two shops at Northampton General Hospital, which have been so successful that in recent months opening hours have been extended to meet the demand. “The great work we do in the hospital is ever growing and it’s through this good work that giftings such as these can take place,” says Service Delivery Manager Jen Ainsworth. “We are now launching a ward support service where volunteers support staff during meal times. These are exciting times for WRVS in Northampton.”

even volunteers from the WRVS coffee shops at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital have been honoured for long service. Together, they have clocked up an amazing 90 years of volunteering. Brenda Kelsey, former Lady Mayoress of Coventry, was among those presented with medals. A special thank you was also given to Betty Matthews who has been volunteering at
the WRVS coffee shop for more than 30 years. “The volunteers at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital are an incredible example of the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers,” said Service Delivery Manager Ruth Nice. “They should be incredibly proud of what they do. They make a massive difference to those who visit the hospital, and I’m sure they’d all agree that they also thoroughly enjoy their work.”
