Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why. - Eddie Cantor
WHAT YOU NEED • A decent camera – DSLR or mirrorless camera. • A sturdy tripod. • Panoramic tripod head. • Remote trigger. • Spirit level. • A copy of Photoshop or alternative.
THE BASIC IDEA
• Take multiple pictures. • Combine them together in Photoshop – AKA stitching.
STEP 1 - COMPOSITION
• Colors, lines and shapes – The basics of composition still apply to panoramic pictures. • Plenty of think about – symmetry, lead lines, patterns, etc…
STEP 1 - COMPOSITION
• Shooting in portrait orientation is preferred – it captures more vertical details. • Landscape orientation is not wrong.
STEP 2 – TAKE THE SHOTS
• Shoot in full manual or exposures may end up strange. • Start from left, work to right.
STEP 2 – TAKE THE SHOTS
• Make sure there is sufficient overlap between each frame. • At least ¼ overlap is recommended.
STEP 3 – STITCHING
• File > Automate > Photomerge > Browse and select the files. • Auto layout usually do a pretty good job.
STEP 3 – STITCHING
• Select all layers > Layers > Merge Layers. • Crop the frame if required.
STEP 3 – STITCHING
• Use the select > Select the empty or strange spots > Edit > Fill > Content Aware
