Your volunteerism and philanthropy forge a partnership with your fellow families and the School. This guide is designed to share opportunities for you to get involved in your child’s education.

Our Top Priority Tax-deductible gifts to the Windward Fund support current operations of the School during the fiscal year the gift is received. Gifts immediately benefit our community by providing substantial funding for the operating budget, which includes Program Enhancements, Research and Development, and Financial Aid. Strong support of the Windward Fund allows us to keep tuition among the lowest of secondary independent schools in Los Angeles by covering the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student, the Windward way.

ENHANCEMENTS •E ach department is given state of the art equipment, tools, and resources necessary to provide Windward students with a thorough, dynamic education. •S upporting everything from technology needs to training equipment, set pieces for plays and musicals, to scholarly archive access, every student and member of the faculty and staff benefits from program enhancements every day.

Why is the important? At Windward, the funds raised for the Windward Fund are indispensable to the institution, advancing every aspect of school life. They are the source of the enhancements that place our School at the forefront of secondary institutions in the country. Supporters who give at or above the Leadership level will be invited to take an insider’s look at the academic year ahead at the Leadership Appreciation Dinner in February. Benefactor level supporters will be invited to a March cocktail party in appreciation of their support.


How Do I MAKE A GIFT? Every member of the Windward community is asked to make Windward a top philanthropic priority by making a tax-deductible gift or pledge to the Windward Fund within the 100 days campaign. This year’s campaign will run from September to December 2016. After receiving a solicitation letter in the mail, we hope that you will make a meaningful gift or pledge using one of the following options:

CASH/CREDIT

Visit www.windwardschool.org/give to make a credit card gift. Online you will have the option to give at a frequency (monthly or quarterly) that is most convenient for you. PLEDGE

Let us know that you are planning to make a gift later in the year by filling out our online pledge form at www.windwardschool.org/pledge. We request that all pledges be paid in full by May 1, 2017.

SECURITIES

A gift to Windward of appreciated securities entitles the donor to a charitable deduction for its full current market value, without paying the capital gains tax on the appreciation. Visit www.windwardschool.org/waystogive to view our stock transfer instructions and fill out our appreciated securities gift form.

MATCHING GIFTS

The Gift of TIME & TALENT Parent participation in school life has been a cornerstone of the Windward experience since the School’s founding in 1971.
