Winter 2016

Mar Vista Fall Festival

Thanksgiving Dinner WESTSIDE CHILDREN’S CENTER Each year, Windward families and the families at the Westside Children’s Center sit down for a Thanksgiving meal together. This event, held at the Westside Children’s Center, focuses on building friendships across generations and communities.

Windward School was proud to be a Festival Partner of the 2016 Mar Vista Fall Festival and Silent Auction, held on Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. School representatives answered questions from neighbors and gave out goodies at our community info booth throughout the day. Some Windward students volunteered for the festival itself, while the Windward

School Jazz Ensemble— directed by Dr. Bruce Eskovitz—wowed the crowd with its professional-caliber performances. Windward also provided parking for all of the festival’s vendors on the School’s campus and donated a free week of Summer Camp for the Silent Auction. We look forward to partnering even more closely with our Mar Vista neighbors at next year’s festival.

Community Improvements

Mar Vista Neighborhood Meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Windward has recently added tall hedges along the perimeter of our south field to obstruct the view of the bleachers from the neighborhood. We intend on having the hedges grow above the bleachers to create a pleasant view for neighbors as they pass by on the street.

In an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion in and around the neighborhood, we have also added another bus route. The new Cheviot Hills Route will greater reduce the number of cars in and around the School. Windward now offers nine pick-up locations in the morning and 13 drop-off locations in the evening.
