YOUNG MAESTROS PROGRAM Held on campus in partnership with Richland Avenue Elementary School, this brand new program was created by Windward students as a way of passing on their love of music. Playing a musical instrument has been shown to help students mature and grow, as well as teach valuable life lessons. Providing students the opportunity to learn the violin using Windwardsupplied instruments, students were introduced to the history and fundamentals of the violin, as well as the larger world of classical music. The program ended with a culminating concert, allowing students to show off all of the elements that they learned!

Over a seven week period, Windward partnered with Mar Vista Elementary School to host 30 elementary school students on campus for Kid CREATE. Led by Windward student leaders and faculty advisors, the program invited Mar Vista students to enjoy the CREATE Studio’s unique materials and machines, helping in their learning of art and science. Throughout the class, students were challenged with logic puzzles, conducted real-life chemical reactions, made their own Picasso paintings, molded some magnetic slime, and learned how to create their own contour self-portraits.
