Windward Hosts Evening of Arts
O
n Jan. 27, Mar Vista community members visited campus for An Evening of Arts, a school-wide celebration of the performing and visual media arts, which included contributions from the School’s STEAM and English departments. The evening, which attracted nearly 300 guests, featured a performance by the Windward Dance Company, as well as a host of artwork made in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” We look forward to creating more opportunities for the community to immerse itself in the arts at Windward!

Windward Students Offer Service
O
n March 7, Windward Ninth Graders offered the Mar Vista community a helping hand as part of the School’s Ninth Grade Service Retreat. This annual retreat allows students to connect to the local community by giving back through a number of service learning opportunities. Service sites included Adopt and Shop, L.A. Kitchen, and Richland Avenue Elementary, as well as the School’s own Windward Teaches Tech, a technology workshop for senior citizens held on campus. Whether leading classes or painting pavements, students came away with a respect and enthusiasm for doing service work, as well as a greater understanding of their impact in our local communities!
