A dynamic education. A nurturing community.

Spring 2016

Happy Spring!

D Our Mission:

Windward is a dynamic college preparatory school that challenges each student to achieve excellence in a nurturing, inclusive community. Windward teachers, parents, and administrators work together to inspire our students to be responsible, caring, well informed, and well balanced young adults.

Windward Summer Camp Dates:

ear Neighbor, As summer approaches and the school year comes to an end, we wanted to let you know about some upcoming fun activities on campus that might interest you and your family.

Summer Camps: Windward School will be offering a variety of summer camps this summer. We have a wide range of academic, athletic, and arts camps to choose from. This year, we have added Camp CREATE and STEAM Camp to our list of options. Both Camp CREATE and STEAM Camp offer an opportunity for young learners to explore the arts and sciences. All camp sessions are one week long, allowing you to choose camps that work with your vacation schedule and summer needs. All camps are also open to the public, and most of them are targeted to both elementary and middle school children. For more information on the camps offered, please visit windwardschool. org/Summer. Community Barbecue & Family Movie Night: This summer, we will be holding our first annual Community Barbecue & Family Movie Night on Friday, July 8. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Southernstyle outdoor barbecue dinner, followed by a family movie screening in our Lewis-Jackson Memorial Gym. For more information about the event or to purchase tickets, please contact Jacqueline Maizland at jmaizland@windwardschool.org. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming summer events. Until then, we wish you and your family a bountiful and beautiful spring. Best Regards,

A MESSAGE FROM OUR SECURITY TEAM

W

indward strives to be an attentive and respectful neighbor at all times. As an educational institution, our first priority is to maintain a safe school and a safe community. We have a rigorous system in place to ensure that members of our School community adhere to traffic laws, obey parking rules, and maintain a good standing with our neighbors. We devote considerable attention and resources to enforcement of these measures. Your feedback is always welcome, particularly if we can address a question or concern. We are committed to working with you and responding quickly. Please feel free to contact Security Supervisor Mark Tronson at (818) 388-0681 if: • You have any questions or feedback regarding parking, traffic, or noise at the School. • You observe a Windward student or community member violating parking guidelines or engaging in disrespectful conduct. All reports are investigated by the School, so photos of the suspected infraction or car license plate are helpful. • You have any questions or feedback pertaining to campus events or School operating hours. Thank you in advance for your continued partnership and assistance. We look forward to a wonderful summer working together to make our Mar Vista neighborhood the best it can be!
