Staying connected through internships, mentoring, and professional support

INTERNSHIPS T

hrough the Windward Network, students and alumni are able to access career guidance and support while leveraging connections within the entire Windward community to develop their professional skills. The Windward Network provides summer internship offerings for both current students — rising Juniors and Seniors — and college-age alumni. Participants have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into their industries of interest, develop skills, cultivate professional connections, and strengthen their resumes. Every summer, both students and alumni participate in a number of enriching opportunities in a variety of fields, including engineering, graphic design, and broadcast journalism. Visit our website at http://bit.ly/windwardinternships to discover some of the rewarding opportunities that Windwardians are tapping into.

MENTORING AND PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT S

tudents and alumni are able to connect with fellow Windwardians in a wide array of industries using Windward at Work, an online networking platform. Windward at Work enables users to seek guidance from mentors — known as Network Advisors — who have signed up to assist in areas such as composing a compelling cover letter, preparing for interviews, providing support to those exploring career options, and making introductions to contacts within their network. Additionally, Windward at Work provides helpful resources for creating a resume, discovering employment opportunities, and much more.

“I am taking away from this experience how my love for certain aspects of climate has grown and how this might be something I wish to pursue in my future. And at the very least this experience has shown me how I can be a better educated, contributing member of society with my knowledge of climate.” –Hannah Mearns ‘20, Climate Action Santa Monica Climate Corps “Given my personal trajectory of one day entering the Real Estate industry full-time, it is difficult for me to imagine a more fulfilling internship. I am beyond grateful to have had this opportunity to learn from such an intelligent and caring group of people.” –Luke Watts-Russell ‘16, Karlin Asset Management “I would recommend participating in an internship through the Windward Network because it offers a deep insight into numerous professions, something that is essential for high school students to understand. As I navigate the college admissions process, I am now able to factor certain medical programs into my decision. The Windward Network was able to give me a once-in-a-lifetime experience, something that I will cherish and value as I work toward my goal of becoming a doctor.” –Elyse Forman ‘19, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles “I would recommend participating in an internship through the Windward Network because it has helped me get a foot in the corporate world that I never thought I would have. Also, the internship has showed me many of the cool things Boeing employees do making me contemplate taking engineering in college.” –Sabrina Kardashian '19, Boeing
