Team Success Netball National Netball Tournament—Saturday 4 November 2017

Kingsmead recreation ground was the venue for the first round of National Schools’ Netball competition . Wycombe and district schools were invited to attend this round and as usual, we filled all three categories with a team at each level of the tournament U14, U16 and U19. It was a chilly, wet day full of high-paced, high level netball. Well done to all girls who were selected and arranged their plans around taking part and thank you to all of our supporters, families, friends and canines!

U14B Netball

With many new players to give the team a fresh start for the new season, the under 14’s B team was raring to go. After training with coach Sarah, focussing particularly on shooting, some teammates found new strengths and performed excellently in every match. This year, the team has worked incredibly hard, putting in all the effort they can in training and games, and it has paid off! In the matches the girls have made sure to be there for every interception, every pass and every goal, even in the cold, the rain, and on the slippery courts! As a team, the girls continue to keep putting in all the effort they can and get the results they truly deserve. There’s been loads of laughs along the way and we cannot wait to see how the rest of the year goes for them!

Our very strong U16 team, coached by volunteer coach Sarah Grey, performed as brilliantly as expected and have secured a top 2 spot, progressing to the regional round of the competition in February. We are immensely proud of the dedication and commitment of these girls to netball and will do everything we can to support their future progression. Well done! Results: U14 6th (winners Pipers Corner School) U16 2nd (winners Beaconsfield High School) U19 4th (winners Beaconsfield High School)

Football U15 League Results

Well done to all the U15 footballers who competed in the Wycombe District Football League. There were some outstanding performances and Wycombe High scored the most goals in the league (13 in total). We narrowly missed out on 1st place by 2 points, however this is an amazing achievement to come 2nd out of 7 schools in the league. Keep it up girls! After Christmas it will be down to the U13 teams to battle it out in the league! 2

ESSA National Championships 2017

The team arrived at the squash club raring to go. They had some doubts about winning as Tring A is a very string team, with their number 1 player being ranked the best in England and N.Ireland for U15. Kassia Goosen was our number 1 player, she played very well but sadly lost her match but with a valiant effort. Emma Bassett played as number 2, she also sadly lost her game but played exceptionally well. Emily Akehurst who played 5 won her match with a very good performance. At this point our spirits were lifted as Rachel played 4 and also won her game. The match all came down to the final game which was Nikhita Banerjee, player number 3. Nikhita had not won a game in competition so far this season, so it was even more impressive that even feeling pressured she won her game! Despite sustaining an injury Nikhita carried on which led to her winning the game and the team winning the match for the team. A fantastic team performance!

Furthering the WHS junior and senior swimming teams successful national qualification from the regional round in both medley and freestyle relays, on Saturday 18 November both teams travelled to the London Aquatic Centre for the National ESSA finals.
