Happy vappu to everyone!

This moment has been eagerly awaited, as spring and VAPPU are finally here! The workload of the academic year is gradually easing, and summer is just around the corner. Hopefully, the snow has already melted as you read this, and the streets of Vaasa are filled with students and a festive atmosphere. It’s time to enjoy being together, and the celebration can begin because the best time for students is here!
However, let’s take a moment to look back. Vappu is preceded by a long period of hard work - it not only marks the end of the spring semester but also the entire academic year. The academic year includes many happy moments, but also clearly stressful and work-filled times that may not be warmly remembered. Especially in the spring, job hunting often adds to the workload of studies, which can cause additional stress. At times, course deadlines can be overwhelming and there may be too many things going on at once. This period, which has undoubtedly caused stress for many of us in different ways, is now behind us. It’s time to relax and enjoy ourselves for a moment, because it is completely deserved.

There is no single correct way to celebrate vappu, as there are probably as many vappu traditions as there are celebrants. For some, these celebrations mean a never-ending party, while for others, a more relaxed approach. My goal is to participate in parties almost every day during the vappu-weeks, which Vaasa offers in plentiful amounts - I learned that last year. Regardless of the party traditions, the most important thing during vappu is to relax, celebrate, and enjoy being together with friends.
Immerse yourself in these vappu spirited articles and let your vappu-spirit rise. Let’s put on our overalls one more time for the spring and enjoy the joy that VAPPU brings!
Wishing you a happy vappu and a wonderful summer,
