Water Leaks

How to find, fix and report them fast!

1. Location of leak

Through market tracking and agreeing new electricity prices from late 2023 to September 2024 for the majority of our parks, we expect to see a £285,000 saving on electricity supplier invoices throughout the year. This means you, our lovely residents, will reap this benefit when billed using the relevant supplier invoices for period late 2023-September 2024.

Will the electric prices come down more?

The answer is YES.

The answer is YES. an opportunity arose and further savings could be achieved, we have now secured further electric rates on the majority of our parks from 01/10/2024- 30/09/2025 which will save…wait for it… another whopping £500,000 on supplier invoices vs the new 20232024 rates!

Is it outside on the pipe that brings water to your property or is it inside the property?

If you’re unsure follow these steps.

2. Check internal stop tap is working (normally under kitchen sink or in a bathroom) by turning this on and off

To make sure the internal stop tap stops the cold-water supply, turn to ‘off’ position, then turn on the cold tap at source; water will stop after a few seconds. If it doesn’t, a plumber is required as most likely there is a leak. If the meter is outside, keep the stop tap off until all checks have been carried out. carried

3. Check external meter (if you have one!)

Once stop tap turned off, check the meter outside. If the dials or digits on the screen are still changing, this indicates an external leak on the pipe.

4. Next steps

If the meter doesn’t move with the stop tap turned off, leak is most likely leak inside the property and plumber required. Turn the stop tap back on once meter checked.

5. Further Simple Checks

Toilet- if you have a dual flush, make sure the button isn’t stuck and it hasn’t been flushed for approx. 30 minutes. Dry the back of the bowl with a tissue and DON’T FLUSH. After 30 minutes place a new, dry sheet of tissue across the back of the bowl and leave to check in a couple of hours. If the tissue is wet or torn, loo is leaking.

Taps- turn the taps to ensure fully off and check for any drips (including external taps!)

Check the pipes behind the sinks pedestals for any water trickling down the pipes.

Is there any dripping water from the shower head?

If possible, check the pipework under the bath for any dripping pipes. Disconnect appliances and check for pools of water or any visible water. Check ball valve on the water tank.

If there is no apparent leak internally, underground repairs could be required or survey of park, which will require a specialist to complete and repair. Please contact the maintenance and utilities department to report so we can repair and claim leakage allowance with our suppliers which will then be reflected on future resident invoicing. If we don’t know about it then we can’t resolve it! like

INNOVATION OF THE FUTURE- WHATS TO COME?

2024 WYLDECREST GETS SMART, starting with our main incoming electricity supplies.

Smart metering has come a long way since it was introduced and initial problems; not compatible with all suppliers, additional charges on standing charges, numerous faults!

However, with technology advancing, SMART metering is becoming the innovation of the future. That’s why, we here at Wyldecrest are starting the SMART project, starting with supplier invoices.

South West Water can apply £50.00 credit to supplier invoices per home backdated to 01/04/2023 where plots are paying council tax. This has been approved for 1 park so far and the finalities of the rebate and revision in invoices for our residents are underway! All Devon and Cornwall parks have been assessed and information with South West Water to apply on remaining parks supplied by them! Once confirmed, residents will be informed, so please expect reduced invoices to come!

Wyldecrest Parks Charitable Trust was initially born of the desire to do more for the communities living within the mobile home parks across the UK, specially designed for the retired and semi-retired, belonging to Wyldecrest Parks’ portfolio.

We look to work closely with other charities, local councils, schools and other organisations to identify those in need by reason of ill-health, disability or other similar disadvantage and who, through financial hardship, cannot access the appropriate health care to relieve illness and sickness.

At the same time, we will continue with the initiatives already started by Wyldecrest Parks, working alongside other amazing charities to enrich the lives of young and elderly people with serious and life-threatening illnesses by funding holiday breaks for them with their families.

If you’re a keen walker then the York Moors National Park’s annual walking festival could be for you. Taking place over the 25th, 26th and 27th May this festival offers new insights into the National Park whilst taking in the wildlife and local history.

This one is for all of you music lovers out there! Liverpool Sound City is one of the largest international music, digital and film festivals. Dance your way through the 4th and 5th of May and make the most of it.

NORWICH, NORFOLK

Internationally renowned the Norfolk & Norwich Festival has become the place to be . Taking place over 17 days in May with 100's of performances there will be something there for everyone.

IPSWICH, SUFFOLK

On the 29th & 30th May the Suffolk Show is returning to Trinity Park with 3000 animals competing in events. There are also plenty of food stalls and crafts for you to explore whilst you are there. Make sure you look out for the Shetland pony race as it truly is one not to miss.

SALCOMBE, DEVON

If you are a massive lover of all things seafood then this festival is the one for you. The Salcombe Crab Festival takes place on the 5th May. There are cooking demos, wine tastings and even an omelette challenge. This is free to attend and takes place in May.

PORTSMOUTH, HAMPSHIRE

If you’re a fan of live music then get yourself to Southsea Bandstand for an afternoon bursting with live music and dance overlooking the sea. Don’t forget your deck chair and a picnic to enjoy whilst you sit back, relax and take in all the entertainement.

SPRING GARDEN TIPS

Spring is the season of new beginnings which makes it the perfect time to spruce up your home. Here are some tips to get your park home ready for spring.

Clean out your fridgegetting rid of expired food is the best place to start, then get out the shelves and give them a good scrub. Cut a lemon in half and leave it in the top and bottom of your fridge to keep it fresh.

Get rid of stubborn limescale - let white vinegar do all the work with this tip. Spray it on shower heads or taps and cover with a bag and let it break down overnight. Rinse it off and your taps will be dazzling! Make sure to do this with good ventilation.

Declutter your home - if you have items in your home that you haven’t used in over 6 months it’s time to get rid! Why not donate them to charity or recycle them instead.

Remove pet hair with rubber gloves - if you find your hair or pet hair everywhere in your park home then use rubber gloves along your carpet to lift the hair up.

Failing that a lint roller does wonders!

Place your chicken breasts, lemon slices and juice into a roasting tin. Drizzle with oil, chicken stock, peeled and crushed garlic, rosemary and thyme then cover with foil and bake until the chicken is cooked through.

Serve with new potatoes and spring vegetables for the perfect light Sunday lunch.

1.2l ginger ale

1l of cherry juice

350ml lemonade

200ml cranberry juice

How To Make It

In a large pitcher mix together your ingredients and then pour into a tall glass.

Garnish with a cherry and enjoy!

Carrot Cake Cupcakes

What You’ll Need

175g brown sugar

200g self raising flour

1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda

2 tsp mixed spice

1 orange, zested

2 eggs

How To Make

200g carrots, grated

150ml sunflower oil

100g butter

300g soft cheese

100g icing sugar

Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a 12-hole muffin tin with cases. In a mixing bowl, mix the sugar, flour, bicarbonate of soda, mixed spice and orange zest. Whisk together the eggs and oil, then stir into the dry ingredients with the grated carrot. Divide the mixture between cases and bake for 20-22 mins. Cool on a wire rack before icing.

For the icing, beat the butter until really soft, then beat in the soft cheese and icing sugar. Decorate your cupcakes and enjoy!

How To Make

Preheat the oven to 180c and then beat together butter and caster sugar then slowly add the eggs one at a time till the batter is creamy. Sift in the flour and lemon zest and combine.

Line the loaf tin and spoon in the mixture, bake for 45-50 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Once cooled mix lemon juice and caster sugar together, prick holes in the cake and pour over the top.
