PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS Across Wyldecrest Parks!

Message from the Chairman

“Spring is a season for the soul to regain its strength” Spring is definitely my favorite season. After being inside for the last few months and bundled up against the cold, I am thrilled to go outside and enjoy nature. I’ll have my rake, a hoe and the weed bucket with me. Digging in the dirt reconnects me to the ground and makes me feel balanced. There is the promise that new beginnings are on the way and all is well with my soul. Spring is nature’s way of reminding us that we can always start again and awaken ourselves into a new life, that yesterday is gone and it’s time to embrace today. It is a perfect time to renew ourselves and break out of our old “earth patterns” to reach higher levels of consciousness. So how do we do this? We can only change ourselves. What is our greatest obstacle in moving forward? Generally our greatest fear is that of the unknown. Or to put it another way, most of us are afraid of change. Change is inevitable, but how we choose to experience it is a choice! We can accept it or we can resist it. Since what we resist persists, one of the most effective ways I know to open up to change is to become conscious of what we are resisting. At Wyldecrest Parks, we don’t just aim to offer you a lovely new bungalow in a beautiful location. We offer great places to live and also a lifestyle to match. As a token of our appreciation and thank you for being part of the Wyldecrest family- we would like to offer VIP experience of special events completely free. Please see our website for more details.

Warmest thoughts to you and your family this Easter!

Thank you

Alfie Best, Founder and CEO, Wyldecrest Parks 2

Happy Spring Holiday 2022 SPRING: The season of new beginnings Spring Edition 2022 Published by Wyldecrest Parks Wyldecrest House 857 London Road West Thurrock Essex RM20 3AT Chairman Alfie Best

Spring...brings hope, new beginnings and inspiration... The days get longer and warmer. Life begins to reemerge, and the world begins to bloom. Spring signifies new beginnings. Apparent in nature, yes, but shouldn’t we notice these things in us as well? We only need to slow our busy lives enough to see the changes that are happening and to enjoy them. “NEW BEGINNINGS WITHIN OURSELVES”.

Remember that changes are a normal part of life. We are changing! The whole world is changing! And this is the magic of life! The evolution! So, let’s live and change! The only thing that remains constant and certain in this life is this: EVERYTHING CHANGES! Easter & Easter Eggs symbolise the renewal of life. The origins of the Christian holiday Easter in an “egg-shell”, is that it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus, three days after his death by crucifixion. Egg giving symbolizes “new beginnings”, it marks one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar and coincides with the coming of spring. Easter tells us that life is all about second chances. But it means you need to open your mind up to new ideas, new feelings and a new way of thinking. Best wishes,

Wyldecrest Residents Story “A Walk in the (Residential) Park” We caught up with Christine recently, a resident of our Brookside Residential Park in Bedfordshire. She had shared some lovely Christmas decorations pictures with us and she won one of the Christmas decoration prizes which was up for grabs. was our first Christmas in the park; “Twehisabsolutely loved decorating our park home with beautiful lights and decorations. A majority of the park residents joined in with the festivities and the whole park was like a big extended family over Christmas. Evening walks were so lovely and festive. All residents decorated at different times and it seemed that home decorations were literally popping up every night. My partner and I originally lived in Bedford shire in a bungalow. We wanted to move into Hertfordshire but the house prices were too expensive. We then heard of park homes and they looked great value for our money so I started looking into park homes.

absolutely fantastic move. One of our favourite things about our park is the public transport which is amazing with the bus stop literally just outside the park’s entrance. Also, the residents are so friendly and we often enjoy a walk after dinner which sometimes takes over an hour just to get around their park as everyone loves to chat. It is a great community and we feel that everyone knows everyone and you never feel alone.

It is great to know that park home living is for you and that you are enjoying your new forever home and park home lifestyle to the full. We wish you many years of health and happiness in your Wyldecrest Parks home.

We moved into a park home and we absolutely loved it there. However a year back, we decided to relocate to be close to our daughter. After living in a park home we were sure that we only ever would move to a park home. We came and looked at Brookside Park and loved it and decided to move. It’s been almost a year and it has been an

Wyldecrest Residents Story “Best Move We Made”, Park Home Living” We caught up with the lovely Gaynor recently to see how her move to her park home in our Willow Residential Park has been. e love the move. Wish we had done it “ Wyears ago. My family is close-by as well which is great! Since moving in, we have modernized our garden so much. We actually have a hot tub in our garden now and don’t we love it! Our Omar Regency Park home is simply perfect. Great design and we love living in it. All park residents are so lovely and we have made some great friendships.

We have great relationships in the park and it is a lovely close-knit community. Our health has improved and since my hip operation, single-storey bungalow living has been the best for us. The funny thing is, we didn’t even know park homes existed or what they actually are. We knew nothing about the residential park lifestyle either. We actually saw some adverts online, one thing led to another and we decided to make the move. 100% our best move ever.

I know Wyldecrest Parks is getting defibrillators installed in their parks across the country, we would actually like to have one in the park as well.

Our Park Operations manager, Moxy was a great help to everyone in the park. He passed away a few months ago and we all really miss him. May his soul rest in peace. We lived in a terraced cottage before we moved here. It was a nice home but we didn’t know or speak to any of our neighbours much and now we speak all of our neighbours! Not just neighbours, most of the residents in the park are great friends.

Wyldecrest Residents Story “16 Years & Counting: Park Home Living” Our lovely residents John and Carol , of Penwortham residential park in Preston are the first winners of the Christmas Decorations contest. Thank you for sharing your lovely decorations videos and congratulations on winning the £100 voucher. to Penwortham residential “Wparke moved about 16 years ago. Ever since we have moved – we have loved every day of it. We absolutely love park home living. We live with our two little dogs that absolutely love the park and love going for walks around the park.

Parks Chairman Alfie Best was filming in the park for ITV’s Undercover Big Boss. My wife and I had no clue it was Alfie and she actually shouted at him to leave her rose bushes alone as he was trying to trim them. We absolutely love park home living, the location is perfect for us and the community aspect is so great too.

This residential park is situated in the residential suburb of Penwortham, approximately 2.5 miles south of Preston City

I used to live in Cumbria and moved to Preston about 40 years ago. My wife has always lived in Preston. Most of our family including our son and daughter live locally. We visit them all the time and my daughter actually came around yesterday. I retired three months ago but that only lasted three months. I felt I wanted to be busier so I got back to working and right now I’m semi-retired which is the perfect balance for me. We were present when Wyldecrest

Wyldecrest Residents Story “Our (park) home by the fields” We caught up with the lovely Maureen who moved into our Saltmarshe Castle Park a few weeks ago. e used to live in a beautiful 3-bed “W semi-detached home around an hour from Bromyard, the area was much busier and quite built-up. We were looking into downsizing to a more manageable home and also in a quiet, greener area but still close to family. A family member showed us a few images of Saltmarshe Castle residential park and we loved what we saw and immediately booked an appointment to view the park. Once onsite we remembered that Mr Bright’s father used to have a holiday home on the park when it was only a holiday park. The park was purely Holiday Park then and it had changed so much now – there is a shop, a gorgeous club house and now is a residential development.

The best part is that Bess, our Staff Cross pet dog has settled better than ever. She used to hate leaving the home before where we lived and would do anything to avoid going out.

Now, since moving into the park, she is ready and waiting even before we have had a chance to put on our coats. Everyone on the park is so friendly, they go out of their way to say hello see how things are going, it is such a refreshing feeling. The on-park shop is so convenient and it is great to have a clubhouse on site for a catch-up and an easy dinner.

Thank you so much Maureen. It is great to hear that you and Paul and Bess are settling so well. We wish you lots of health & happiness in your new home.

We are quite settled in our new home and we absolutely love it and have been quite pleasantly surprised at how spacious they are! We chose a premium plot in the park overlooking the fishing lake and the never-ending green fields.

Wyldecrest Residents Story “Absolute Value for Money” We welcomed the lovely Mildenhalls and their cute dog Bentley to our popular Cranbourne Hall Park recently.

It is a beautiful part of the world to live in & there are so many places to visit & frequent. Our park has about 3 garden centres in close proximity!

We caught up with Michelle today to see how they were settling into their new home and to park home living.

Wyldecrest made the process so easy and we love living on the park and are we are settling in beautifully.

“We have always lived in the Windsor

area and have moved a few times but only around Windsor. We were looking to downsize from our 3-bed house as it was a little bit too much upkeep.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and we wish you lots of good health and happiness in your new home.

Cranbourne has been a well-established residential development for many years and we had heard about it. We decided to look further into park homes. We actually fell in love with a beautiful Willerby Kingswood park home and we honestly couldn’t believe the value for money on park homes. So for us, the deciding factor was how affordable this beautiful home situated in a gorgeous village-style setting with quite a friendly community was. We have so many friends on park and even found out that my best friend’s brother actually lives two doors down. The whole park is quite a happy place! We have a convenience shop in the park which is quite handy. The Windsor great park is literally across the road & very popular for walks & picnics among our residents. We are very close to the M4, the M3 & have easy access to the river Thames. The utilities which include gas, water & electric come to about £100 per month (of course these depend on the size of the home & usage etc.).

Wyldecrest Charity Activities World Down Syndrome Day World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is an annual March 21 celebration and global awareness day officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. March 21 (3/21) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. This date is World Down Syndrome Awareness day and the purpose of wearing odd socks is to recognise and celebrate diversity and the differences that make us all unique and special. All of us that Wyldecrest Parks Head Quarters put on our odd socks in support of our Wyldecrest Parks Charitable Trust for our local Down Syndrome Charity

Easter Food Donation We were contacted by the local Food bank for emergency food parcels to support local residents in crisis.

We would like to raise awareness and affirm our support and commitment to improving the quality of life for people who have Down’s syndrome

“Our food parcels contain 3 days-worth of emergency food, at the same time we use referral agencies etc. to help people overcome the issues that caused them to be referred to us. Our stocks of tinned vegetables are very low and the demand on our services continues to increase”, Volunteer, Thurrock Food bank Responding to this urgent request we have responded with a round of collection and we are proud to have collected a substantial amount of food. The entire Wyldecrest team came together for the collection. “He who wished to secure the good of others, has already secured his own” Confucius 29

Ham Pot Pie Ingredients • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

1/3 cup carrot, peeled and cut into tiny cubes 1/3 cup onion, finely diced 1/3 cup celery, thinly sliced 4 tablespoons butter, plus extra for greasing 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 1/2 cups milk Pinch mace Pinch kosher salt Pinch freshly ground black pepper 1 cup mixed fresh vegetables, such as peas, beans, and broccoli florets 2 tablespoons parsley leaves, chopped 4 ounces leftover ham, cubed 12 ounces frozen puff pastry sheet, defrosted 1 large egg, beaten

Using a little of the butter, grease either two 8 x 5 x 2- inche deep, individual pie tins or an 8 x 2-inch deep pie plate. Set aside. Bring a cup of water to the boil in a small saucepan, add the diced carrots and cook for 3 minutes to soften them. Strain and keep to one side. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and add the chopped onions and celery. Gently fry over medium heat and gently for 5 minutes to soften. Add the flour to the pan and stir well, cooking for 2 minutes, then slowly adding the milk a splash at a time. Stir well between each addition. Add the pinch of mace if using, and the salt and pepper. Stir until the sauce has thickened to the thickness of heavy cream. Add half of the beaten egg and stir well.

parsley and the ham pieces. Pre heat the oven to 400 F. Lay the pastry on a lightly-floured work surface and cut two pieces to line the tins and two for the lids, or two circles to fit the pie plate Line the base of your chosen serving dish with one piece of pastry and fill with the ham and vegetable sauce. Brush the edges of your dish with the beaten egg and lay the lid over. Press lightly, then crimp the edges with your fingers or the edge of a fork to seal the pie. Cut a small hole the size of a dime into the center of each pie and then brush the surface all over with the remaining beaten egg. Bake in the center of the heated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the pastry is golden and risen, and the sauce is bubbling. It may bubble through the hole, but don’t worry, it adds to the character of the pie.

Add the carrots and mixed vegetables to the sauce and stir, cooking for another 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave too cool. The sauce does not need to be cold, so 10 minutes should be long enough. Once cooled, add the
