Summer 2021

Message from the Chairman

I hope that you, your loved ones, and your colleagues are safe and well, and that everyone has a good start to the summer. As we prepare to move out of the lockdown, let us hope that we have put the pandemic situation behind us. I am sure we are all proud of how each one of us and our country has risen to this challenge with resilience, courage – and a caring heart. Safety is paramount and we need to always remember that – value our family, our community & ourselves. My thoughts are with those of you that have been affected by this disease, personally or through your nearest relations. I send you my warmest wishes and hope for a speedy recovery. We need to focus on ensuring that we continue to operate safely and make sure that we continue to make positive contributions. We have recently acquired new parks and we now own and operate more than 91 residential parks across the UK. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for being part of the Wyldecrest family and offer you the assurance that you are part of the biggest residential park home group in UK & Europe. I would also like to reassure you that as a company, we are resilient and committed. I am extremely grateful to our staff and all the teams who come on site everyday to ensure business continuity. Look after yourselves and your families and stay safe. Thank you.

Life on a Residential Park A reflection on making the move to one of our largest parks

Park home living: The dream lifestyle

Revitalize & Renew We are all getting ready for a good summer. It will be a good idea to put the uncertainty and sadness of the last year behind us and hopefully bring some positivity into our lives. Our garden contest is open, so please keep sending us your entries. There are multiple ways to submit your garden pictures (more details can be found on page 21). We recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Mr. Thomas Cross, along with our Chairman Alfie Best, who presented him with a £1,000 gift cheque as a referral bonus. It was great to catch up with him and also a number of residents on the parks. The camaraderie on park was amazing and it was heartening to see how the community looks out for each other. At Wyldecrest Parks, we know our customers can have their pick among countless residential parks or brick & mortar homes throughout the UK, that is why we don’t just aim to offer to customers the best choice of residential parks – that’s not enough. Our goal is to ensure that every aspect of your experience on our parks, from browsing our selection on our website, to visiting a park, to securing a home & finally moving in – we aim to make the experience the very best it can be.

Park home living: Life starts at 70 PARK IN FOCUS: Westover park We caught up with Jean Dezille and Richard Whitaker who recently moved onto our Westover Residential Park in Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire. We found each other a little later in life and lived most of our lives in Pembrokeshire. We are both retired and I worked in the civil service - social security, for 15 years. We used to rent a quaint bungalow but as we got older we wanted to simplify our lives. We researched park home living and we found that these homes are good value for money as well as offering easy maintenance and top security for the perfect forever home. Richard had previously lived in a residential park in his earlier years and loved the park living lifestyle and knew that a good residential park would tick all the boxes we were looking for. So when we started looking around for good residential parks in the area, we found that Westover Residential Park was actually tailor-made for us – it was perfect!

We purchased a lovely, brand new Omar Westbury Park Home – we loved its design and the colour scheme and home decor. Since moving onto the park we feel settled and have found that all residents are extremely friendly and everyone has made us feel so welcome. They go out of their way to say hello and let you know they are there for you! It is such a warm feeling and we are sure that we have found our forever home. It is such a beautiful area and there is so much to do. We are extremely competitive and enjoy playing lawn bowls. We are so happy that we could downsize and stay in the same area and therefore be able to frequent all the places we always have, and even continue playing at our original club!

Jean Dezille & Richard Whitaker

Nestled halfway between the historic, bustling town of Carmarthen and the famous sunny beach towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot lies our lovely Westover Residential Park. The small town of Whitland, where the park is situated, takes its name from a Cistercian abbey from the medieval period and it will provide you with everything you need for your day-to-day needs. There are brand new homes available to view on this park, including an Elegance Park Home (40 x 20, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) starting from £149,995, with more availability and plots being developed. An Omar Regency is available on this park. 7

Park home living: The dream lifestyle PARK IN FOCUS: THE WILLOWS PARK During the Chairman’s visits to the Surrey residential parks, we were able to catch up with Jenny & Peter Larby. They’ve been living on the Willows Park, Surrey for almost 6 years now. Jenny’s happiness was positively infectious as she showed us her beautiful park home. She has recently added a gazebo and was busy planting to get her garden ready for the summer. We love it here – absolutely living the dream! It is a beautiful place to live – everyone knows everyone! I moved here to be close to my daughter who had taken unwell, she is doing really well now! We really love our home, the location and the absolutely friendly community on the park. I have 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who absolutely love my home, they love to visit us often. We have been together 25 years and married for 21. We are both retired now and living the best, most ‘youthful time’ of our lives. We love our bungalow and the lifestyle which only a park-home community can provide. Chairman Alfie Best sharing a smile with Jenny.

The area is extremely beautiful as well and my dog loves to go for walks around the park. Living in Guildford gives you the perfect balance between rural and city life. We enjoy the space and community vibe with the beautiful Surrey countryside while still being within easy reach of the London. A similar size bungalow in this area would be at least two to three times the cost of our park home. Plus, even then it wouldn’t be as lovely & modern as these park homes are! And lastly, you’d hardly know two or three neighbours on your street, max. Here on our residential park – it is all one big happy family.

Jenny Larby The Chairman met plenty of residents during his visits.

Living on a Residential Park PARK IN FOCUS: SALTMARSHE CASTLE PARK

We caught up with the absolutely lovely Mr. Adrian Dunn who lives on our Saltmarshe Castle Residential Park with his wife and little dog. They moved to the park from Manchester last year and their home enjoys some of the best views of the Bromyard Downs and Malvern Hills. We knew we wanted a property on one level because of my wife’s health and also to simplify the maintenance and our life. We started to look around the Midlands area. We have a granddaughter in London & in Stockport – we wanted to sort of be in the middle so that we can access both these places with a drive of less than 2 hours. We anyways like this part of the country and love Herefordshire. So we started to look for a park home site as we wanted a bungalow in sort of a nice friendly community. We came across Saltmarshe on the internet and we decided to visit. We visited the park, spoke with the team and things made a lot of sense. We decided on the plot that we wanted and I also visited the manufacturers to see the homes. I decided to choose the Hazlewood & also was able to bespoke it to our needs and likings. 16

I was actually able to get a hybrid home – it’s a Hazlewood park home which has the bedrooms of the Charnwood. I didn’t know that it was possible, but I was able to get it and we were absolutely over the moon with the home that we were able to achieve. Our home has superb views. Mornings are beautiful and the nights are even more spectacular. I have a telescope and I love looking at some of the beautiful stars and constellations. It is just perfect. The one-level bungalow style is perfect. I love to go out & sit on the bench and enjoy the peace & quiet and the lovely country air. We have a lovely deck around our property and it is a great place to spend some peaceful time.

Park home living: I never feel alone PARK IN FOCUS: THE WILLOWS PARK Chairman Alfie Best made a special visit to Mr. Thomas Cross, resident of The Willows Residential Park in Guildford, Surrey. Mr. Cross was due to a receive a lovely surprise from Alfie Best – a £1,000 cheque! His lovely daughter moved onto our Old Rectory Park in Cornwall and Alfie personally thanked him with a visit & a cheque. Mr. Cross has been living on The Willows Park for over 30 years and loves every bit of it. My wife & I moved into the park home about 30 years ago. We used to live down the road and wanted to retire to a bungalow style property but stay local. It was a great decision to move to a park home because life on the park has been brilliant. Back then, park homes were not as popular or luxurious as compared to now. However, the feeling of community and support is the same – I know every resident on the park and we are truly one big family. When I think of it, last year’s lockdown situation has actually not been that difficult. I managed to meet and talk to all my friends & neighbours and was able to see them albeit from across a fence. Whenever anyone goes out to the shops they always check with me if I need anything. So I haven’t felt lonely or in need of any form of support. The park is well-located and everything we need is within easy reach. I look forward to going out with the lockdown situation easing now and will try to visit my daughter in her park home in Cornwall soon as well.

Thomas Cross The Referral Scheme is a great way to help a friend or family member find their dream home. You can start by filling in our Contact Us form or by calling 0330 133 7300. The Willows Park is ideal for those who seek a peaceful life. The local village shops cater for all your daily needs, whilst for larger shopping requirements and leisure activities, the main towns of Guildford, Camberley, Aldershot and Farnham are all a short distance away. The homes and the gardens have been maintained to a high standard and there is a good community spirit on the park.

Crafty Recipe Ideas Salt-Baked Trout Ingredients

Method

2 Medium-sized trout, whole and gutted

Pre-heat the oven to 200°c.

Salt, or sea salt, (about twice the weight of the fish Plus more for seasoning

Scrape the fish with a knife, using light pressure, starting from the tail-end towards the head. When completed, rinse the fish thoroughly under cold water.

1 cup drained pickled cocktail onions (thin sliced)

Using toothpicks, place 2 bay leaves and 2 thyme sprigs into each trout. Then spread the salt in a thick, even layer across a baking tray. Cover each trout with ¾ cups of salt, packing it into the cavities & pressing the salt to the sides of the fish. Use any remaining salt to fill any gaps.

1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp White wine vinegar 1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp Vegetable oil Freshly ground pepper Herbs, of your choice (bay leaves & thyme sprigs)

Optional: For more flavour, place roughly chopped herbs into the belly of the fish before baking. Parsley, sage and (lemon) thyme are recommended. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 40mins (reduce the time for smaller fish). As the fish bakes, mix the drained pickled cocktail onions, white wine vinegar & vegetable oil in a medium bowl. Add salt and pepper seasoning. Carefully break the salt crust off the trout, remove the skin and fillet the fish. Ensure the fillets do not touch the salt. Drizzle a little olive oil over the fish before serving. Serve the trout with the pickled onion vinaigrette at the table, this meal goes well with a green salad!

Why Choose a Park Home? Park homes provide an excellent opportunity to downsize to a more easily-managed living style, while at the same time ensuring that the quality of the home and living improves. Kitchens and bathrooms tend to be the first rooms to suffer from age and wear down, but with park homes you get the benefit of the latest in modern appliances. Park homes provide a cost-effective & luxurious housing option, plus you get so much flexibility in deciding every component of the home and designing it to your needs and sensibilities! One of the biggest advantages of park home living is having a friendly, understanding community of people of a similar age-range and interests living around you. You have great company when you need it and you have your privacy when you want it. Purchasing a new home is a wonderful experience for anyone, and at Wyldecrest Parks we believe that moving into a park home is truly special.

Location We hand-pick all our development locations in order to bring you everything from the finest scenery to essential amenities. When choosing a potential setting for a Wyldecrest Residential Park, we start by ensuring the location can support those who will live there. How close will your home be to a daily-needs shop? Is there a bus stop right next to the park or a train station nearby? For example, Penwortham Park is about 3 miles from Preston town centre. Cranbourne Hall Park has a convenience store on the park. The beautiful Quarry Rock Park is about 1.5 miles from the famous Bath city centre.

Community If you are yearning for some good old British community spirit, a residential park community is one of the best options for you to consider. The average age of residents in park homes is above 55. A survey conducted in 2020 found 68% of residential park occupants in the UK were aged 60 or over. There is a good chance that you’ll meet like-minded people in your community who share similar ideals. There are great opportunities for friendships and many parks have their residents organise social events and community clubs. We love the convenience of managing a park home as well as how cosy our whole park is. There are just 31 homes on this park so literally everyone knows everyone. There is a lot of potential to make great friendships – it basically depends on how social you are. Les (resident, Elm Tree Park) 30

Economy We are a country with an ageing population and for many of us, our wealth is locked up in homes that are too big for us to maintain. Park homes enable us to free up some capital, get a luxurious, manageable home and at the same time put some cash in our bank accounts. Jim and I, decided to downsize to cash-in some equity from our bungalow, but every bungalow we looked at to buy was really expensive and the move just was not making sense. Someone suggested park homes to us and it was something we had never really thought about before. We decided to take a look and see what the homes and the parks were like and we were honestly surprised and delighted to find we could afford a brand new home, finished to a high standard, fully furnished and at half the cost of standard bricks and mortar home. Sheila L (resident, Blueleighs Park)

Stress-free You can choose from modern, open-plan layouts with modular kitchens and your choice of furnishings. The homes are single-storey bungalows and hence easy to clean and look-after. These homes are built for permanent residence; they are modern with central heating, double glazing, and energy efficient boilers. All park homes are governed and protected by the Mobile Homes Act, built to the “Specification for Residential Park Homes”, the British Standard BS3632.

Our unique Part-Exchange Scheme is designed to take away the stress, inconvenience and added work of selling a property, leaving you more time to actually plan your move. Once the park home is ready and the purchase agreed, you’re able to move in. This truly is hassle-free home buying. Start your journey today – visit one of our parks and see the homes, the communities and see if it works for you.
