Community Engagement Wyndham City Council and My Clinic began the rollout of the COVID vaccine in June at Encore Events Centre in Wyndham. The Wyndham Tech School provided Pepper our humanoid robot who assisted in greeting patients and provided them with information while they were standing in line. This is an example of how we support our local businesses and community members. These types of real-world projects are undertaken by students who participate in Tech School programs. Students can explore the changing roles of robots by participating in the Humanoids in Society or Autobots Program.

Girls Future Our Future 2021 Update The report Girls’ Future – Our Future (Hobbs et al., 2017) found that despite girls performing equally well as boys in STEM learning measures, a complex range of social and cultural influences discourage girls from pursuing STEM, operating from a very early age. The report concluded with the following recommendations; Start Early, Engage with strategically selected role models and Provide for ongoing STEM career awareness. WTS is currently working with Industry Partner, Greater Western Water to rollout a series of programs that will commence this year that will address the recommendations, more information will follow in Term 3. If your school is keen to learn more about how you can participate in our girls only initiatives please contact me directly gail.bray@vu.edu.au. The Wyndham Tech School team looks forward to working with you all in Term 3.
