URBAN EXTREME WEATHER RESPONSE DESIGN

Type:urban problem

Location:SHAKOULU Station,Zhengzhou& Bell Tower and Drum Tower Culture Square

Date:08-2021to03-2023

Professor:Pengfei Gao

Role:individual work

Introduction:The project includes two small designs for extreme weather in the city, namely a skybridge with water absorption function for heavy rain and a building with vacuum function for sandstorm.

The starting point of the design is that extreme weather has occurred frequently in recent years, and news of casualties and social property losses has emerged in an endless stream: 2021 Henan On July 20, 2021, a heavy rainstorm occurred in Zhengzhou, causing 292 deaths and 47 missing. The typical incident is Metro Line 5 was trapped; Beijing was hit by a strong sandstorm in March 2021, PM10 concentrations increased significantly, and visibility was less than one kilometer in most areas.

Henan Zhengzhou Line 5 7.20 Incident, the design site is the subway Shakou Road Station, the problem to be solved is the urban rainstorm and rainwater backflow, the design concept is urban sponge, and the design form comes from tree roots. In March 2021, the Mongolian plateau sandstorm event, the design site is Beijing Bell and Drum Tower Square, the problem to be solved is sandstorm, the design concept is urban vacuum cleaner, and the design form comes from pipes.

The above-ground space designed for the Zhengzhou Line 5 event is an overpass connecting the residential buildings and the entrances and exits of the two subway stations. It has functions of traffic, sky park and water storage, and the underground space has functions of water absorber and summer humidifier. The above-ground and underground spaces designed for the sandstorm event mainly focus on popular science and entertainment functions.

Two conceptual experimental designs can provide reference solutions for urban extreme weather.

DESIGN BACKGROUND

Zhengzhou

On July 20, 2021, a severe rainstorm occurred in Zhengzhou, killing 292 people and 47 people missing. A typical incident was the trapping of Metro Line 5.

Chongqing

September 7, 2021, the "Yangtze River No. 1 Flood in 2021" passed through the central urban area. The highest water level at Cuntan Station was 182 meters.

Haikou

In October 2021, when the typhoon "Compasses" crossed the border, nearly 1.3W trees were blown down on Hainan Road. The typhoon caused many casualties.

Extreme Weather in the City

Harbin

There was a blizzard on November 7, 2021. The temperature dropped sharply, the doors were closed due to heavy snow, and the school was closed.

Beijing

In March 2021, the severe dust storms caused a significant increase in PM10 concentration, and visibility in most areas was less than one kilometer.

With the global warming, extreme weather in cities around the world frequently occurs. Blizzards from north to south in China, sandstorms, heavy rains, floods, and typhoons. It has caused inconvenience to people's lives and even caused casualties. As of 2019, China's urbanization rate was 60.31%. Faced with the frequent occurrence of extreme weather in the city, the construction of resilient cities cannot be delayed.

During heavy rains, water flows to the surface, penetrates into the earth, is absorbed by plants, and is purified and stored by rainwater collectors.

In order to achieve the purpose of transporting rainwater stored underground to the ground for utilization, the up and down operation of the elevator is used as the power system of the exchange space between water and air. When the elevator goes down, the rainwater returns to the reservoir and the excess air is discharged through the pipe. When the elevator goes up, the air enters the reservoir and the rainwater goes up into the sky rain garden.

At the end of a rainstorm, the rainwater stored can be humidifiers for subway stations, water for plants, water features, or washing cars.

(if it not rains)

During a rainstorm, the sky rain garden receives some of the rainwater. After the rainstorm is over, the irrigation system uses pumps and pipes to extract rainwater from the ground to the growing area in the sky to irrigate the plants, so that the rainwater can be fully reused.

Through the violent vibration of the ultrasonic wave, the water is squeezed out through the small sieve hole of a fixed diameter, forming a water mist.

THE GREAT WALL HOMESTAY DESIGN

Type:Cultural Tourism

Location:Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall, Beijing

Date:08-2021to10-2021

Professor:Fangyu Zhou

Role:individual work

Introduction:According to the excellent natural conditions of the site including mountain, water, and The Great Wall, and the city people’s yearning for a beautiful life in the countryside, the design of the homestay was carried out.

The reason for the establishment of Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall B&B at this site is the combination of policy and site conditions. In terms of policy, the state attaches great importance to the Great Wall culture; in terms of the site, the number of homestays in the tourist area is far less than the number of homestays outside the site, which is conducive to attracting tourists, coupled with the environmental advantages of the Great Wall in the water inside the site and superior traffic conditions.

The design goal is to satisfy the yearning for a better life for people living in the city and to increase the source of income for the scenic spot. Four types of objects and their needs are: Great Wall Culture in-depth tour enthusiasts need Basic dwell and Thinking space, couples need Excllent scene and Sharing space, families need Excllent scene and Children space, and friends need Entertainment Space and Public space

The basic design module is derived from the starry sky map derived from the needs of four groups of users, and then four groups of basic unit types are formed. The unit type combination rules are derived from the refinement of the design language of the Great Wall, and finally the basic form of the building is formed. The building and the building unit pass through the viaduct. connected.

After the construction of the homestay is completed, it will help increase the income of the scenic spot and popularize the culture of the Great Wall.

Introduction:According to the excellent natural conditions of the site including mountain, water, and The Great Wall, and the city people’s yearning for a beautiful life in the countryside, the design of the homestay was carried out.

14

The project is located in the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall, Beijing. The highlight of the design is the architectural form derived from the Great Wall concept using typology methods. The site selection is based on the difference in the number of homestays inside and outside the tourist area, combined with the advantages of the Submerged Great Wall environment and traffic conditions.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENT ANALYSIS

Quantitative analysis of homestays in and out of the tourist area

Time analysis of different tourist routes within the scenic spot

Node analysis of Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall

The reason for choosing this site is because the number of homestay in the scenic area is small, the water resources of the Great Wall are the most special and the transportation is convenient.
