Landscapes design is more a process, rather than a form design. No matter what scale the design is about, it is not a design for a status stage, but a design that will change, or adapt to change over time. 1.Good quality buildings: with completely structure & maintenance materials,can be used continually. 2.Medium quality buildings: with basically intact structures,can be used after being renovate. 3.Bad quality buildings: with damaged structures & maintenance materials or tilted construction.

Bridgehead Square: It is the main entrance and open space of the Linpan. To review the old memory of history,I reconstructed the "Ziku" tower as a main feature and build a square around it.

The complex design should be focus on rhythm and meter of horizon contour line,to constitute a smooth curve.

1.Low greening rate,uneven distribution of green land. 2.No green space system, farmland and forest are cut by artificial construction. 3.Lack of public green space.

1.Connect the water environment elements such as paddy field,wet land & river channel into a network,to form a rain regulation system and a river purification system. 2.Strengthen the vegetation construction; limit the visitor flows and mark out the area which is not allowed to enter to make a better habitat for the animals and plants in the basin. 3.Seperate the main vehicular way and the water system to protect the ecological diversity along the river and avoid the distractions of the city;combines the reserved regional landscape, reveal a harmonious and environmental scene. 4.set up multidimensional land scape system,especially the open space around the bridge.

Inner Square: The purpose of this square is for resting and coze. An old tree cover the whole space to provide shady and cool.

Rim Space: The rim space of Linpan is always covered by indigenous trees. Sitting in this areas you can seclude from the world and enjoy the rural scenery.

Low—growing shrub and ground covers form a common open space. People can gather to join the activities here. There’s also some semi-private spaces divided by shrub.

Under the tree front is the riparian square--the main landscape node of the park. The cafe and chairlike tree pool allowing a space to rest under the shade.

Planting arbor and shrub in line to form a vertical space,sealing vertical plane to direct the eye along the road.

The community is comprised by compactly-planting arbor and shrub to form a completely close space. One can't see-Through the space and stay in privacy.

Only planting arbor in one side to direct the eye to the open space. It is a buffer area between the park and the city road,reducing the noises effectively

PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS Background 2000

Concept

Shadow-lengths

In the past twenty years, China has developed at high speed. Since large-scale urban renewal, infrastructure construction and urban expansion, the bulk of the demand in recent years taken on the release. Therefore,how to protect the benefit of those people living in the bottom of society is a serious problem. In most people's mind, settlement seems to be a place with weak infrastructures, bad environment and wrecked buildings. So my core idea is very simple -- decide a settlement no longer as it once look like. By changing the old impression, this new residents have an opportunity to incorporate the urban life naturally.

In 1999, the government of Chengdu decided to move the administrative centre to the south of the city. In 2009, the southern metro is well-established. However, the development of urbanization also make farmers lost their lands. This design is a living community for those "lost-land farmers". Most of the land is used for farming.

To maintain the basic benefit of the relocated families and the continuous use of the social resources,I decided to remove them locally. According to the investigation,I choose a site on the edge of the southern metro,surrounded by the residential communities.

Path To separate people and vehicle,vehicles are not allow to drive in the community under a non-emergency state. The pedestrian system is divided into three grades, each group has a convenient communication yet located in a quiet place.

6 Fountain Plaza and pavilion The water danced when the fountain is switched on, yet it turns out to be a plaza with outdoor leisure furniture during quiet periods.

The main landscape axis coincides with the main road and the nodes are lay out in the turning points to hold the visual central. The sub nodes are distribute among the community to ensure the equality of landscape resource.

Luodai, located in the east of Chengdu,is the largest settlement of Hakkanese in the western China. the most impressive building in Luodai is Guild Hall of Hakkanese, where they sacrifice to their ancestors, and gather for discussing. Huguang Guild Hall is one of these buildings. The hall faces south, using the overall layout of China’s axis of symmetry. It is a large quadrangle, peace and serene, with a three entrances compound in depth.

Background: This project was collaboration between Japanese and Chinese universities, and was built by students form both countries as a learning experience. Japanese and Chinese volunteers worked together on the constructional during the summer vacation, so promoting international understanding. With good construction management, the three buildings were completed in about forty days. These were first buildings in China to have a paper-tube structure, and were also the first school buildings to be completed in the earthquake-stricken province,
