About

Avec Chic, originated in French, means in an elegant manner. I started Avec Chic because of a need to share my dreams, my goals and my stories. I am Chinese born and raised, but 3 years ago, an opportunity came for me to study in England where this whole adventure started. Days in England have been incredible and I feel very happy and honored to share with you some of my experiences which still inspire me throughout the time. Finishing my Fashion Management courses in UK, I worked as a fashion buyer; then, a fashion editor.

Now, I’m a part-time BLOGGER and a full-time DREAMER.

Editor's Letter

This issue is all about high heels, along with a delicate selection of beautiful and powerful heels on this year’s runway. Personally, I am a die-hard high-heels girl, just like Nina Garcia, creative director of Marie Claire Magazine and one of Project Runway judges, who appears in street style snaps frequently, wearing heels, of course. Sneakers have suddenly become a fad, the number of high heels in my wardrobe is rising, though.

I feel confident and pulledtogether wearing them. Those a few inches do give me power, as well as femininity. I suppose that’s the power of fashion; it is not just about clothing, it is about being confident and comfortable choosing the way you want to live. I hope all of you be enlightened, reading this issue, no matter you choose to high heels or flats.

/ About Heels

"( During Fashion Week,) As for the shoes—

I feel very Melanie Griffith in Working Girl having high heels in there, but I’ve found myself far too many

times stuck at taxi “off duty” hour and blocks from the nearest subway. The only solution is to do a quick shoe swap (kept in dust bags, of course!) and jog it out on foot to the next show! No excuses for being late!" - Rickie De Sole

Fashion Market and Accessories Director, W Magazine

"No matter what I am wearing on my body, give me a Gianvito Rossi heel or a Tabitha Simmons

pump and I am

alert."

What They Say / "People say I am the king of painful shoes. I don't want to create painful shoes, but it is not my job to create something comfortable. I try to make high heels as comfortable as they can be, but my priority is design, beauty and sexiness. I'm not against them, but comfort is not my focus." -Christian Louboutin

Footwear Designer

"Comfort is always key. Why wear big heels that you know are going to cause pain later in the evening? " - Cathy Horyn

Fashion Journalist

Nina Garcia Creative Director of Marie Claire Magazine Project Runway Judge

You can never have enough high heels. You just can’t.

People will try to tell you differently. Smile politely and slowly strut away. A great pair of heels is a powerful thing — it can change your mood, your posture, your attitude; it can make a boring outfit instantly fabulous, and it always makes your legs look better.

How many things in the world have that much power? I don’t know of any. This is why I respect the shoe and often start the entire dressing process with the shoe and let it inspire the rest of my look.

I am a die-hard high-heels girl. I wake up with heels on.

Sometimes there are exceptions, and moments when I wish I weren’t wearing them. But with the new wedge in style again, I’m in heaven.

Carine Roitfeld Editor in Chief of CR Fashion-Book

Global Fashion Director of Harper’s Bazaar Magazine

I have good legs, so I prefer my skirt lengths and my high heels. It's like my uniform.

I don’t know who invented the high heel, but women owe him a lot.
