A Voice for Loudoun Teens

YAC Youth Advisory Council

Join YAC There are six Governors from each high school. Any high school student in Loudoun County is eligible to apply. Applications are available on www.loudounteens.org . Governors tackle tough issues facing teens and make recommendations. You will be a voice for teens in your community. Governors keep students at their schools informed about upcoming events and activities. They also let the Youth Advisory Council know what’s going on in their school. The Youth Advisory Council plans special events, participates in community service and interacts with community leaders.

Communications

Keep other teens informed The Youth Advisory Council manages its website, loudounteens.org and a Facebook page. They promote Youth Advisory Council events and let teens know about other opportunities and activities for teens.

The Youth Advisory Council is involved throughout Loudoun County. As a Governor you will develop leadership skills, meet new people and be a voice for other Loudoun teens.

What we do Special Events

Plan events for Loudoun teens The Youth Advisory Council plans the annual Loudoun County YouthFest which features a nationally known headliner, some of Loudoun’s best teen bands, great attractions, interactive exhibits and more. The Youth Advisory Council also hosts a series of YouthFest Battle of the Bands to select the bands and performers that will play at YouthFest.

Community Service

Make a difference with other Loudoun teens The Youth Advisory Council regularly participates in community service projects. Members also create their own. It’s a great way to meet other teens and get some volunteer hours. Past project include the Holiday Coalition, Camp Supply drive for children and Alex’s Lemonade stand.

Fundraising

Interact with the Community Governors on the Youth Advisory Council prepare community presentations. They develop fundraising plans and work with the non-profit organization Loudoun Youth, Inc.
