Matthew Danish, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Hematology) and cares for patients with benign and malignant hematological conditions at Smilow Cancer Hospital in Waterford and Westerly, RI. He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, completed residency at Rutgers University College of Medicine where he received an Excellence in Teaching Award, and served as Chief Fellow during his fellowship at Brown University. Dr. Danish joins Yale from South County Health where he has provided care for patients in Rhode Island for the past several years.

Dr. Danish also received a Masters in Medical Science from Drexel University’s Interdepartmental Medical Science Program where he worked in the lab of Dr. Simon Cocklin researching new entry inhibitors of HIV-1. Following graduation from the University of Rochester, he received a Cancer Research Training Award-ship (CRTA) with the National Cancer Institute, and also conducted research at Kumamoto University in Japan with their department of Hematology and Infectious Diseases.
