post-capitalism for beginners
COLLABORATORS’ KIT
10 things to know about the play 1. This is not conventional entertainment. This is not even a theatre play. HalfbreadTechnique is a performance lecture.
2. Imagine an internationally acclaimed artist standing on an empty stage and offering to share his salary with the audience: “who takes half of half of the stage and half of half of the money?” This is how it starts.
3. HalfbreadTechnique was conceptualised by Martin Schick, choreographer and performer from Switzerland, based in Berlin.
4. Since its premiere at Julidans Amsterdam 2012, HalfbreadTechnique has toured Festivals in Europe and has briefly visited Southern Africa in 2013.
5. It is now re-staged as a touring series by a group of creatives in Cape Town with a special collaboration licence from Schick to suit the local vibe.
6. You can see a promo Schick did for his European tour: http://vimeo.com/42401982.
7. In its innovative use of performance art, HalfbreadTechnique provides the audience a thought provoking, interactive and unexpected experience.
8. This funny production uses theatre for a social purpose: inspiring us to think fresh about sharing and money.
9. HalfbreadTechnique is low budget and high value! 10.
