ear Friends, Fellow Cattlemen, and Valued Customers: Welcome to our 34th annual fall bred cow and heifer sale. We look forward to seeing you and hearing from you. We have something for everyone in this sale and the QUALITY is as good as you can find anyplace in America. We are in a time when cow numbers nation wide are at historic lows for the last 50 years and there is a building optimism in the cattle business. We feel very blessed to have the high prices we are getting this year. This offering is loaded with POWER from the first to the last page of the catalog. The main focus of our sales is to offer you the very best young, productive, proven, elite females in the business. You will find as you evaluate these cattle that they are not only bred right, stout and good looking….they are sound structured, easy fleshing, practical, productive cattle with good temperaments. You are buying seedstock from a program where the cattle business is our only business…it’s not just a hobby… we take it serious…we have to, it’s the sole livelihood for our family. These cattle have been bred and developed with a purpose. THEY ARE TRULY UNIQUE….AND THEY WILL BE affordable. We expect these cows to stay fat and maintain their body weight while raising a 700 lb. calf without creep. We have been AI’ing for 44 years, which has produced one of America’s greatest cowherds. The true value of a beef cow is her ability to convert forage to protein. NO MACHINE CAN BEGIN TO COMPETE IN EFFICIENCY OR THE COST OF OPERATION WITH A GRAZING COW. Our cows are run on a forage-based operation. Easy fleshing is a function of body type and not an EPD or any other number. We have bred performance and perfect conformation in these cattle for many generations. We analyze EPD’s but the main selection tool I have always used is individual performance, birth weights, weaning and yearling weights, plus eye appealing good looks. We feel that many people in the cattle business have used EPD’s and carcass traits as their only selection tool and are left with a plain made, hard doing cow base that are hard to look at. Our genetics are MATERNALLY BASED and have stood the test of time. These cattle have worked for us and they will work for you.

There are few people in this world that get to do what they love for a living. We are very blessed to be one of the few. There is no place else I would rather raise my family than in the livestock business. This past year we gained two great and wonderful men for son-in-laws. Jeannie married a great cattleman, John Griswold from Stillwater, OK on Jan. 4, 2011. She’s been back and forth between there and home to help with AI’ing, sales, and catalog. They are proud to announce they are expecting a baby the first of February 2012, we are all very excited about this! On Sept 15, 2011, Tawnya married Rodney Teichert from Cokeville, WY. They are living here and working for us until January when they are both going to BYU-Idaho. After finishing an internship for Pfizer Animal Health, Emily graduated from BYU-Idaho last July and has been here all fall helping get ready for the sale. Angela, our youngest has left us empty-nesters, she is a freshman at BYU-Idaho. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR A WONDERFUL FAMILY. THIS IS THE VERY GREATEST BLESSING THAT ANYONE CAN HAVE IN LIFE. We have had the best grass year I can ever remember and we are so thankful for this tremendous blessing. We feel very blessed to have been born and raised in America and have the FREEDOM TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS AND DO WHAT WE WANT WITH OUR LIVES. We are so thankful for all the hard work of our family and our dedicated men, Jose Guzeman and Josue Garcia. We appreciate your confidence in our program. Your friendship means more to us than anything else. Call us if we can be of any help to you. We look forward to seeing you sale day. GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS AMERICA. Sincerely, yours for a better cattle business, The GIB YARDLEY FAMILY, P.O. Box 288 Beaver, Utah 84713 Home: (435) 438-2424 Cell: (435) 310-0041

TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS: No cattle will leave sale yards until full settlement has been made immediately after the sale. Payment terms are cash or a good check. All “returned” or insufficient checks will be immediately turned over to the District Attorney for immediate prosecution. This is a felony and charges will be filed. BIDDING: All animals will sell to the highest bidder. Any disputes or challenges regarding bids will be settled by the auctioneer whose decision will be final. RISK: All animals are at the owner’s risk prior to their sale and become the property of the buyer as soon as the animal is declared sold by the auctioneer at which time the buyer assumes all risk. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over any printed matter. BREEDING DATES: Heifers will start calving February 1st and cows February 20th. Most of the cows will calve in March with some April and a few into May. WE HAVE HIGHLIGHTED THE SIRE TO WHICH THE VETERINARIAN, TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY, HAS DETERMINED THE ANIMAL BRED TO. However, we cannot guarantee they will calve from this mating. HEALTH: Every animal in this sale, to the best of our knowledge, is healthy and eligible for interstate shipment. Cows were vaccinated last spring for IBR, P13, BVD, BRSV, Vibrio, Haemophilus, 5-way lepto and trichomoniasis. The heifer calves have been fully vaccinated and boostered. All cows that have had calves are vaccinated in January with Scour Guard 4 and Vision 8 Way. They just need a booster and the bred heifers should get two shots, three weeks apart before they calve. All Cattle have had Ivomec Plus, and given OneShot Ultra 8. Calves have had two shots Bova Shield Gold and OneShot Ultra 8 BREEDING GUARANTEE: All females sold under the conditions “safe in calf” have been pregnancy checked by a licensed veterinarian and sell with no further guarantee. No guarantee is given that bred females will deliver a live calf. All heifer calves are guaranteed breeders. If the heifer failed to breed, we require a statement from the veterinarian who checked her, stating the problem and that the problem was not due to negligence or improper management, which will void the guarantee. This guarantee may be void if 1) a female is highly obese, has been shown extensively past July 1st and has not steadily been attempted to be bred and 2) if she is flushed at any time in the first year after the date of the sale. These two exemptions do not apply if the female is examined by our vet to have an underdeveloped reproductive tract that would have been present at the time she was sold. Infections or other enlargement do not constitute “undeveloped.” 100% of the purchase price less salvage value of the female will be credited to the next sale. The credit does not have to be used in the following sale and will remain good. No other expenses occurred in the female will be reimbursed to the buyer. In cases where the animal is subject to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques or damage caused by foreign bodies after the sale, this contract is null and void. The seller is not responsible for sickness not apparent at time of sale. It is useless to breed more than two heat cycles artificially. If they haven’t settled artificially then, they must be put with a fertile bull for the summer. After salvage value we give you credit in next year’s sale or give a heifer of equal value. In no event will the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price, less salvage value. AI CERTIFICATE: The purchase of A.I. certificates is the responsibility of the buyer, as well as, the registration of all calves born after sale day. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES: Supplied on eligible animals upon request on the sales slip at time of settlement or within 20 days. Leave the name and address to which you would like purchases transferred on your sales slip. CONTRACT: The above Terms and Conditions of this sale shall constitute a contract between buyer and seller and be equally binding on both. Animals that are resold following the sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected there to are not covered by these Terms and Conditions. TRUCKING: All trucking, pricing and trucking fees are the responsibility of the buyer, but we will help you all we can with coordinating loads.

LIABILITIES: Although accidents at livestock sales seldom occur, everyone attending this sale does so at their own risk. We try to keep the most accurate records possible and have bull tight fences, but once on a rare occasion, accidents of breeding occur that we are not aware of or cannot control. We will do everything we can to determine the correct parentage, but cannot guarantee it. The owners and employees of Yardley Cattle Co. assume no liability, legal or otherwise in the event of an accident, bodily injury, theft, error or omissions in catalogs or parentage verification. As of the first of the year 2008 all of our personal herd sires were DNA tested. Cattle are kept in their own individual breeding groups until the first to mid July. Due to size and layout of the Forest permit it is necessary to mix breeding groups at that time. Only our own personal herd sires are taken on the mountain. Select groups of cattle will stay with one sire all summer long, but on the majority of late calving cows we cannot guarantee sire parentage unless a parentage identification test is ran. IGENITY labs runs this procedure for around $30.

14 Head of Show and Donor Heifer Calves 77 Elite Simmental, Angus, & Maine Anjou Simmental Bred Heifers and Cows 9 Elite Fall Calving Females

• We are proud to offer you this set of 2011 Females and feel that no matter where you travel from you will not be dissapointed. Yardley Cattle Company has strived to raise quality genetics for generations. This is a program that has stood the test of time. There are many Donor quality females in the offering and many more that will make solid cattle for you our customer. You’ll find that our “Focus is truly on the Female” November 19th. With the female as the priority, all else will fall into place. • Sorting down to 14 head of heifers, represented within these pages, is perhaps one of the most enjoyable things we do as a family all year. We discuss granddams from years gone by, how they move, and what we should name all of them. The one thing that we really focus on is the ablity to make cows. There is huge donor potential in the open division. They are sorted from our top replacements, and come from a long line of top maternal genetics from the heart of our program. • We take great pride in the “clean up” bulls that we use, we call them herd bulls. Many of them come from top herds across the nation or are hand selected from our bull calves each year. We know their lineage for generations, we know how their mothers milk, what their body condition score is, what type of feet and udder quality they have, and we only use the best. We feel our bulls in the pasture are of equal or higher quality as those in the tank and take pride in thier genetic merit. Don’t hesitate to buy a female that is pasture bred! •Take the time to visit our bull pens. The entire 2011 heifer and bull calves are penned and available for viewing. We want you to see what these cows are able to produce. Make plans to attend our 39th Annual bull sale March 10th, 2012 in beautiful Beaver, UT. •Enjoy the offering, it’s a family effort with a great deal of heart and soul, we appreciate your continued interest in our program.

ne of our families memory building experiences and enjoyment is moving our cattle from Asay Creek, 20 miles to high country where they summer at 9 to 10,000 feet elevation. There is no more beautiful country on earth. The grass is strong and it is a summer haven for our cattle and us. The cattle graze year round on grass and browse ranges. We live in an area where we still embrace the heritage of the Old West. Our livestock culture still survives where the valley and sagebrush lie in the shadows of majestic mountains under endless sky…. where the solitude is not loneliness but a refreshing peace from the modern world. Our natural beauty is preserved and enhanced by the practical stewardship of reputation cowboys and cowmen….whose lives are shaped by the dominant environment. John L Valley, 2011. hat better occupation to have than being a cow/calf producer? From hearing the first breath of a newborn baby nestled in the straw, to watching young calves run around in the green pastures with mamma following close behind, and finally witnessing the growth and development of these animals as they repeat the reproduction cycle. Creation is a priceless livelihood. It is like writing a book as we learn new tactics, educate customers, and experience the world around us. However the narrative never ends, it continues page after page, chapter after chapter with successes and struggles as new generations of producers arise. Only in the livestock industry do we get the luxury of engineering our own way-of-life and designing the structure for our own story. It was a busy time of year, as ranch life always is, when Rodney and Tawnya got married. We couldn’t have accomplished everything without the help of family-especially Mark! He went out of his way to be sure all the details were met and the yard was ready for the reception. The whole family put forth a whole hearted effort to make sure that the special day was a success!

• During

preg check, X11 walked through the chute and I knew we had our lead-off Maine-Anjou heifer. Some girls have it all, Miss Yardley X11 is the kind that can walk the walk, she’s hot and she knows it! Her mother is as pretty a Whiskey daughter as you could pattern plus she hails from the favorite F15 donor cow. Two full flush sibs to U453 were the lead Maine heifer calves in previous Focus On the Female sales. This cow family is proven profitable. Buy with confidence this one has as much potential to enter the donor pen as any in the sale.

Congratulations Birdy and Jess!

We grew up going to the Cedar Livestock Show. After thousands of memories, a few trophies, and years later Birdy was the last one of the Yardley household to show there this past fall. She went out smiling with Grand & Reserve Champion on her steers, and Champion Showman. Jessica, our niece, followed right behind her placing 3rd overall & Reserve Champion Showman! Both of them were also members of the Champion Livestock Judging team! The whole family came to cheer them on. It was a rather bittersweet day as the realization came that an era was passing. L

ove is the very essence of life. It is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yet it is not found only at the end of the rainbow. Love is at the beginning also, and from it springs the beauty that arched across the sky on a stormy day. Love is the security for which children weep, the yearning of youth, the adhesive that binds marriage, and the lubricant that prevents devastating friction in the home; it is the peace of old age, the sunlight of hope shining through death. How rich are those who enjoy it in their associations with family, friends, and neighbors! Love, like faith, is a gift of God. It is also the most enduring and most powerful virtue.”

We will continue to focus on solid cow familes combined with powerful herd sires. Semen Available on all sires.

WLE Right On

3/4 Simmental ASA # 2388614

Sire: SVF/NJC Built Right N48 Dam: WLE Sophie by Power Stroke

Right On is a bull you’re destined to love. Everybody loves a baldy, and when they are moderate framed and big topped with plenty of soundness and stretch it’s hard not to admire them. Right On carries that description. Built Right has sired a legacy of quality cattle and we have always loved our Power Stroke females. The combination of these two pedigree make this a sure fire bet to sire profitable progeny. A full brother to the popular AI sire Quota, Right On comes in the same build but with a full baldy face. He is moderate framed and easy fleshing. This picture was taken after a 60 day breeding season this summer. Right On will be available for viewing on sale day. We’re sure your going to admire him as much as we do.

Yardley Pinion

Purebred Simmental ASA # 2232526

Sire: Prowler by BBB Intrepid Dam: Miss Yardley B78 by Yardley Whirliway

2011 marked Pinions final set of natural calves. He only got used on a select number of females. His daughters are proving themselves as changers in the Simmental breed. A bull’s true value isn’t really known until his daughters are in production for a few years, Pinion daughters carry consistency, substance and style. They have flawless udders, and are proving maternal ablity in producing top of the market cattle. It’s a bold statement but they are flat out better than Meyer daughters. They’ll make their mark in the history books.

Sundance has grown into a moderate made powerhouse with substance and style to be a breed changer. His calf crop this past year will prove him to be a profitable sire that will see heavy use in our program in the coming years. His daughters are just now coming into production and they are proving to be easy keeping nice made females.

GCC Hard As Steel 144w 1/2 sIMMENTAL 1/2 ANGUS asa Reg 2511031 Sire: SVF Steel Force S701 Dam: OCC Jaunada 898L by OCC Homer

I had the opportunity to go to the Grass to Grid Sale, before I married John. I fell in love with Hard As Steel before I was real sure I was in love with John! I circled his lot number, put a star next to his name, and wrote love this bull in my footnotes. With a 70# BW, 15.67 REA, and a 40.5 yearling scrotal he was one you could like off of paper but he got better after a visual analysis. He is a female maker that is huge bodied with fleshing ability and style. His first calf crop did not disappoint. Owned with Curt Schoner, and Griswold Cattle Company. His mother has been in ET at Griswolds, she is one of the best cows that they purchased from Tim Ohlde. Hard as Steel cost us $12,000.

Yardley Fortune

5/8 Maine anjou 3/8 sIMMENTAL ama reg # 384648

Sire: Yardley Bouncer by TML Bouncer 152L Dam: Miss Yardley R116 Fear This x Black Beaver

Natural fleshing ability is always in style and in the Maine Anjou cow base it’s something that needs to be a focus area. There is no point to have to feed power into cattle. They should have it naturally, “gutts” shouldn’t come from a bunk. Fortune is functional, he’s sound, he’s easy fleshing, and he’s cool made, plus he’s more consistent than any Maine Anjou bull we have used in a long time. As a senior herd sire he’s earned his place with his calf crop. He’s been viewed and analyzed by the most discriminative cattlemen in the industry and reported as being the most complete Maine Anjou breeding bull they had seen in the pasture. This picture is after breeding cows for 60 days.

Yardley Integrity 3/4 maine anjou ama reg # 40693

Sire: SDWL Nomad Dam: Miss Yardley G157 by Oakie

Fleshing Ability has been a major focus at Yardley Cattle Company in our Maine Anjou herd. Integrity’s mother was 13 this past year and we finally shipped her. She’s been a cow that milks well and has done a great job with her calves. Oakie daughters were a signature of quality in our operation. Integrity boasts an actual 40 inch yearling scrotal. He’s done great on a set of cows this past year.

Yardley Royal Jet ANGUS ASA REG #16704437

Sire: OCC Jet Stream Dam: Miss Yardley R192 by SC Stockman Royal Jet is the type of bull that defines where we are taking our program, Soft made cattle that carry performance, thickness, fleshing ability, and style. OCC Jet Stream is now deceased, he stands as one of Ohlde’s greatest herd sires. Look at the performance this bull carries coupled with a perfect phenotype. This is as good as Angus bull as you will find anyplace. We used him to clean up all of our Angus heifers this past year. He’s the type of bull that will add belly, rib, and doability, without taking pounds away from your bottom line.

Great cattle come from great cow families and Yardley Skipper hails from one of the best. His maternal sister sold in our Focus on the Female 2009 for $16,200 to Schnoor Sisters of Chowcilla, CA. Wayne and Barb Ohlrichs where the contending bidder and went on to purchase Miss Yardley N181 for $20,000, she is a hit and never miss cow. You’ll see from the feature lots in this sale that Skipper is following the tradition of the cow family behind him. He is functional and stout with the bone and body that you seldom see in PB Angus. He has been an extremely consistent producer of quality.

SCC Apache Brave ANGUS REG # 15759398

Sire: OCC Legend 616L Dam: Y Annie Coed 928 (Krugerrand granddaughter)

Apache Brave is going to go down as one of the greatest sires of Yardley Cattle Co. His progeny are top of the pen with 11 head of bulls averaging $4,568. He is an easy calving sire that produces cattle that have look and style. Grass fat cattle are what we need to breed. He always maintained his flesh while breeding cows and he wasn’t a bull that needed to primped and pampered. Apache was a moderator that kept performance and bred depth and rib into his progeny. Owned with Matt Sherwood.

SooLine North Country Angus Reg # 16996619 Sire: HF Kodiak 5R Dam: Soo Line Annie by Cudlobe Yellowstone

A complete out-cross to most American pedigrees, North Country brings thickness, big bodied, strong uddered, eye appealing look to the table. Sired by Kodiak and out of Soo Line Annie, Soo Line states North Country is the result mating of the two greatest individuals they have ever owned. Soo Line Annie K was the Champion Female at the World Angus Forum in 2009. She sold for $100,000 and Kodiak sold for $150,000. One of the most exciting aspects of North Country comes from the consistency of his dam to produce high dollar, eye appealing progeny. The power of a cow family is immeasurable. North Country carries plenty of look and style along with an extra dose of performance, bone, and scrotal development.

Yardley Messenger X243 ANGUS Sire: SAV Final Answer Dam: Miss U71 by Y1 Bando x SC Stockman

BW: 68 WW: 725 YW 1371 When we select bulls from our own calf battery we’re pretty critical of them on every angle possible. We take great merit in the cow family from which they evolved, their dam’s and granddam’s udder quality, fleshing ability, performance and overall eye appeal, and then couple all that with the bulls individual merits. Messenger carries thickness and power along with a 68 BW, 725 WW, and 1371 YW. He hails from a great cow family.

OCC Rising Sun

ANGUS reg # 15755575 Sire: OCC Jet Stream Dam: OCC Dixie Erica 805G by OCC Discovery

I have known and been a friend of Tim Ohlde of Palmer KS, it seems like forever. The world has beaten a path to his door because he has bred, developed, and selected a line and family of Angus cattle that have MORE FLESHING ABILITY, BETTER UDDERS, MODERATE FRAMES, and MORE DEPTH AND THICKNESS, than any other Angus in the nation. OCC Rising Sun is a sound structured, pretty fronted, deep ribbed, powerhouse. We had previously used Jet Stream on our Simmental cows and loved the results. In a crossbreeding or purebred Angus situation we feel that Rising Sun will be a breed changer. Owned with Dunn & Son, Tetonia Idaho and Tim Ohlde.

WLE Power R748

3/4 SIMMENTAL ASA # 2285988 Sire: WLE Power Stroke Dam: Triple C Lola M640 by Lucy’s Boy out of Hart Hollywood Queen

WLE Power Stroke has proven himself as a maternal sire of some of the greatest cattle in the Simmental breed, when you combine that with perhaps the most prolific cow family of the breed the genetic potential is limitless. There has been more $ sold in progeny out of Hollywood Queen that perhaps any female in the industry. In Dad’s words “Power looks good everyplace you look at him.” Quality high percentage Simmental bulls are a rare find but Power fits that ticket. We look forward to our first calf crop out of him. This picture was taken on short notice soon after he was pulled off of cows this fall, he’s 100% in his working clothes.

CA Ranger 185x

Canadian ANGUS reg # 1569181

Sire: HF Kodiak 5R Dam: HF Annie 42J TC Freedom granddaughter

For the past three years we have been highly impressed by the quality of cattle that HF Kodiak has produced, finally we decided to do something about it and purchased two direct sons. The TC Freedom on the bottom side was highly appealing to us, we have loved our Freedom daughters. We hadn’t used TC Freedom since 2005, but bred more cows to him this year because of what great females they make. Ranger himself is a big bodied, thick made individual that carries performance and eye appeal in a complete package. Owned with Robison Ranch

GCC Johnny 209

1/2 simmental 1/2 angus REG # 2493495

Sire: SVF Steel Force Dam: OCC Dixie Erica 775P by OCC Kansas

The OCC genetics on the bottom side make this pedigree all the more desirable. This is a super soggy made individual that carries power in his pedigree. He did great on a set of cows this year, staying fat and sassy. He’s sound and functional with the ability to add the rib and maternal value needed in today’s cow base. Raised by Griswolds of Stillwater, OK.

Y1 Whirl of a Dream W361 pb sIMMENTAL REG # 2533644

Sire: CNS Dream ON Dam: Miss Yardley B75 by Whirliway Whirl of a Dream was the pick of our Simmental bull calves two years ago. He’s big topped, large scrotaled, with bone and great muscle shape. His dam, B75, has been a top producer for us. She raised this calf at 17 years old, he weaned off at 712 lbs with no creep and she was fat when she came home. A wise cattleman once told me if you love the cow, breed one of her sons and you’ll replicate her. There is performance with power in this pedigree. We couldn’t be more excied about his calf crop they are functional, big ribbed, thick made cattle with performance.
