Tension boiling over as Israeli vandals desecrate Masjid Al-Aqsa

Tension has been running high in Jerusalem’s Old City since early Wednesday morning after flocks of fanatic Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa, while Israeli officers captured a number of Palestinian students. Jerusalemite sources said over 62 settlers, escorted by Israeli occupation police, broke into Al-Aqsa in small hordes and vandalized its plaza. The police assaulted a Palestinian lady inside the holy site to make way for the vandals. Palestinian sit-inners have intensified their presence at the Mosque despite Israel’s seizure of women’s and youths’ IDs at Al-Aqsa’s gates. Meanwhile, dozens of Palestinians, male and female students were detained for a while by Israeli policemen in the Old City of Jerusalem. Palestinian protesters flocked to the area in objection to the officers’ provocative inspections of the captives’ schoolbags and birth certificates.Sumber: Sumber Berita Palestin Bertarikh 11/2/2015. Further excavations being carried out under Al-Aqsa

The Western Wall Foundation, a right-wing Israeli Jewish organisation, has circulated an invitation for bids to conduct excavations in tunnels under the Al-Aqsa Sanctuary. These excavations are set to begin on 20th February. Ahmed Queri, a member the PLO, stated that Israeli engineers and contractors have toured the al-Aqsa mosque compound secretly, a few days ago, to explore the location before submitting their bids. Israel has already undertaken numerous excavations, creating dozens of tunnels under the Old City. This is part of a wider campaign to displace indigenous Palestinian by denying their historic and cultural heritage in the city. The tunnels are so diverse that they are weakening the foundation beneath Al-Aqsa complex. These excavations are seen as only part of the Israeli policies to claim Jerusalem as its “undivided capital”. Settlers have tried to instigate tensions by hanging signs, outside the Al-Aqsa complex, stating “Temple Mount.” In addition, Israel has continually enforced heavy restrictions upon Palestinians accessing alAqsa - women are restricted, only men over the age of 50 are granted access, and even children are included in closures. Palestinians are forced to pray out on the streets, while the sacred complex remains empty. Conversely, Israeli settlers are allowed to freely enter the compound without any restrictions and with armed escorts. In 2014 alone, 14,952 Israelis trespassed into al-Aqsa. In January 2015 alone, 965 illegal settlers stormed the complex. These frequent attacks are evidence of the very real dangers posed to Al-Aqsa sanctuary and Palestinian sovereignty. SOURCE : F.AQSA
