The Symptoms (HU): Miracles of the Night /surreal interaction
DATE: 24 April 2017 7 pm TICKET PRICE: 2000 HUF / 1600 HUF (student) The performance is inspired by the eponymous poem by Sándor Weöres, a poetic vision that is free-ranging, erratic and unfettered by rules, as Weöres’s poetry often is. In short, no age limit or PG rating applies. This special linguistic idiom is reenacted here on stage with the backing of paintings, drawings and animation by two artists, Ildikó Mezei and Éva Taskovics.

MP5 / Teho Teardo (I): Phantasmagorica
DATE: 26 April 2017 8 pm TICKET PRICE: 1500 HUF / 1200 HUF (student) Phantasmagorica is a tribute to the deceased theatrical genere, brought back to life by the interaction of MP5’s animation with Teho Teardo’s music. The artists, immersed and surrounded by darkness, delineate a theatrical trail made of darkness and unexpected apparitions - hypnotic elements set in ghostly locations.

Zsófia Tamara Vadas – Ábris Gryllus (HU): Krund ni Ovel
DATE: 26 April 2017 9 pm TICKET PRICE: 1500 HUF / 1200 HUF (student) Krund ni Ovel is a ritualistic performance, a dialogue between movement, music and visual arts that plays with the concept of clichés. How can such a performance be presented in an era of celebrity idols? How can we trigger transcendental processes in this day and age? And how can an analytic and deconstructive dialogue metamorphose out of Beyoncé’s hit, ‘Drunk in Love’…?

This concert presents, for the first time in this series, the Sarangi, a unique voice-like stringed instrument. The Sarangi, an Indian string instrument, is amazingly similar to the human voice. It does not literally speak, but sighs, laughs, cries and – most importantly – sings. This unique – albeit on the verge of extinction – instrument is brought to life on stage by Bharat Bhushan Goswami, who was born in the legendary Mathura, where, allegedly, Krishna was born. Both Goswami’s father and grandfather were acknowledged musicians at the famous Radha Rani temple, and as such, in addition to becoming a singer, Goswami also started playing on the Sarangi, the ‘singing instrument’.

Eva Duda Dance Company / Movein Mission (HU): Double bill // Mesh & Breathe!
TICKET PRICE: 2400 HUF / 1900 HUF (student) In this Hodworks production, the naked human body takes centre stage. It opens up in front of us like a landscape, dressed in the veins of the muscles, and the wrinkles and flushed nature of the skin, highlighting the body’s anatomical-mechanical nature or ‘animal-like quality’ which in recent times has been suppressed and become taboo. The continuous interaction between and never-ending series of developments turn this daring piece into a performance which demands an exceptionally high level of awareness, strength, and refinement from the dancers. An avant-garde, radical, prejudice-free investigation of the body, as one would expect from Adrienn Hód.
DATE: 16 May 2017 8 pm TICKET PRICE: 2400 HUF / 1900 HUF (student) This evening features two performances by the Éva Duda Company/ Movein Mission, the first choreographed by Spanish creative partners Maria Campos and Guy Nader, the second presenting one of Éva Duda’s latest work.

Freak Fusion (HU): fightinGravity Premier! DATE: 23 May 2017 8 pm 24 May 2017 8 pm TICKET PRICE: 2400 HUF / 1900 HUF (student) Hungarian new circus company Freak Fusion is taming gravity in its new piece. The juggling tools fall sooner or later, no matter how much training the acrobats survive. The tightrope walker has to return to the ground, cannot remain in the air – gravity always calls him. The artists of Freak Fusin want to resist gravity.
Kill two birds with one stone, as one of the greatest choreographers of our time presents updated versions of two of his major pieces. Revisiting ‘The Rite of Spring’, a major piece of the Gatrepertoire (created in 2004), SACRE whips audiences into a fever through its incendiary juxtaposition of Stravinsky and Cuban salsa. Through a combination of elegance and bursts of feverish movement, the piece renews ‘The Rite of Spring’ in all the splendor of its modernity. SACRE received a Bessy award in 2006 for its performances at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York. GOLD is an adaptation of 2013’s ‘The Goldlandbergs’, a piece based on two major works by Glenn Gould: his legendary interpretations of Bach’s ‘Goldberg Variations’, and ‘The Quiet in the Land’, a poetic radio documentary. GOLD reflects the intense resonance between music and dance, and explores the nature of deeply human relationships.
