LETTER FROM THE LTG Hello White Tigers, I hope you are all enjoying your summer vacation. But just because it is summer does not mean that Key Clubs stops. You should all be doing service this summer and I encourage you to use this time wisely. With all this extra time, you can be doing more service than when school is in session. I also hope you participate in the division and region events that are coming up. I especially hope you all attend Region 7 Beach Cleanup. It will be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to bond with your region ohana. This is one of the few region events we have throughout the year. There will be food for sale and hopefully our region hoodies will be available by then as well. The summer is full of opportunity and I hope you all take advantage of this time while you can. I cannot wait to see what we accomplish this summer and I hope I will see all of your BEE-utiful faces soon!

Roaring with Love, Tyler Szeto Division 16 Lieutenant Governor 2014-15

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Hey White Tigers! How are you all doing? Did you have a good Summer so far? I personally believe that enjoying your vacation is really important because taking a break is a must in everyone’s life. Whether you are working or just staying at home, I hope you all enjoying every minute of your break. However, we Key Clubbers cannot be on break all of the time; there are things to be done. Like how I’m still turning in submissions, you should find something to participate in your Key Club Ohana. For example, you can all join us on our DCM on June 21st. It will be full of fun and bonding. We’ll be working on service projects to help our community. Even if you can’t attend this DCM, there are still many other events that we have planned for everyone. So enjoy the rest of your Summer, but don’t forget to connect with your fellow Key Clubbers.

Sincerely, YeChan Lee

DIVISON NEWS D16’s 2014 OFFICER TRAING CONFERENCE BY Su Min LEE, VALENCIA HIGH HS

Division 16 hit the ground running on May 31st, 2014 when it hosted its Officer Training Conference at John Burroughs High School. From 10 am to 1 pm, club officers in D16 gathered together on a Saturday to learn how to run a club effectively and make 2014 a success for their club. Dressed in casual business attire and armed with pencils and paper, officers were ready to tackle their new positions with responsibility and diligence. Regular members were also welcome to attend the conference and learn more about Key Club. LTG Tyler Szeto prepared detailed, informative presentations to educate the new officers and explained the duties and responsibilities of each position. Without a doubt, the OTC was a beneficial, educational experience for both officers and members. “The OTC was such a great experience! I’m so glad that I went because I learned so much more about Key Club and what it means to be a Key Clubber,” said Voulette Hattar, Division 16’s Member Recognition Coordinator. “I also got closer with my Key Club family!” Throughout the business portion of the conference, lunch was also provided for $7. Officers and members were able to reconnect and establish new bonds as a Key Club family, all while munching on Subway. Yum!

CLUB NEWS Take Over BY Carrisa Siccion, BURBANK HS

What is a Take Over? A Take Over is when a home club and its executive members visit their Kiwanis family and take over and lead their general meeting for a day. The purpose for a Take Over is to fundraise enough money to support the 2014-2015 Key Club Year and get to know its Kiwanis family even better. Burbank Kiwanis has Burbank HS the opportunity to not only host their general meeting but also share a great time with them. Through this Take Over key club members take their place in setting up, collecting raffle tickets, and hosting the overall event from leading the prayer to informing them on upcoming events. From having our high school officers auctioned to playing guessing games, Burbank high school is grateful to have the support of their Kiwanis and call them family
