A Salute To Our American Flag!

The weather is finally warmer, and with that comes a perfect time to proudly display your flag. Here are some useful tips and interesting Flag Facts. from Christopher Haddon, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services

No one knows with absolute certainty who designed the first stars and stripes or who made it. Congressman Francis Hopkinson seems most likely to have designed it. Few historians believe that Betsy Ross, a Philadelphia seamstress, made the first one. Until an Executive Order on June 24, 1912, neither the order of the stars nor the proportions of the flag was prescribed. Here’s some of the history as we know it: • On June 14, 1777, in order to establish an official flag for the new nation, the Continental Congress passed the first Flag Act: “Resolved, That the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.” • Act of January 13, 1794 - provided for 15 stripes and 15 stars after May 1795. • Act of April 4, 1818 - provided for 13 stripes and one star for each state, to be added to the flag on the 4th of July following the admission of each new state, signed by President Monroe. • Executive Order of President Taft dated June 24, 1912 - established proportions of the flag and provided for arrangement of the stars in six horizontal rows of eight each, a single point of each star to be upward. • Executive Order of President Eisenhower dated January 3, 1959 - provided for the arrangement of the stars in seven rows of seven stars each, staggered horizontally and vertically. • Executive Order of President Eisenhower dated August 21, 1959 provided for the arrangement of the stars in nine rows of stars staggered horizontally and eleven rows of stars staggered vertically. A few helpful tips and reminders for displaying the flag: 1. The flag of the United States should be flown daily from sunrise to sunset in good weather from public buildings, schools, permanent staffs, and in or near polling places on election days. The flag may be displayed 24 hours a day on patriotic holidays or if properly illuminated. 2. The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is bad, except when an all-weather flag is used. 3. The flag should always be flown on national and state holidays and on those occasions proclaimed by the President. On Memorial Day, the flag should be half staffed until noon.

4. The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously. It should never be dipped to any person nor should it ever be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress. 5. The flag should never touch anything beneath it, nor should it ever be carried flat or horizontally. 6. It should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, drapery, or decoration, nor for carrying or holding anything. 7. The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged. It should never be used as a covering for a ceiling. 8. The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle. When a flag is displayed on a car, the flag’s staff should be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender. 9. The flag or its staff should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. Nor should any picture, drawing, insignia or other decoration be placed on or attached to the flag, its staff, or halyard. 10. The flag should not be embroidered on cushions, handkerchiefs, or other personal items nor printed on anything designed for temporary use and discarded. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, or members of other patriotic organizations. 11. When the flag is so worn or soiled that it is no longer suitable for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. 5 Ways to Protect Your Energy by Helene Verdile We are all energetic beings and some of us absorb energy more than others. If you often feel dragged around or pushed down at the whim of some other power, you may be among the 15-20% of people who are classified as Highly Sensitive Personality or “HSP”. In Dr. Elaine Aron’s book The Highly Sensitive Person she describes this personality type (not a disorder) as one in which 1 out of every 5 people experience. HSP is the quality of being more aware of one’s surroundings, more easily overwhelmed and stimulated by noise, textures, chaos, and the energetic quality of others. When compared to the 80% of the population without the trait, those who are HSP process everything around them to a higher degree, elaborating on it, making associations, reflecting on what is around them and this increased processing can lead to increased stress and anxiety. Without awareness, this blessing can sometimes feel like a curse. HSP is also an empathy trait common among those who choose helping professions such as psychology, social work, life coaching or medicine. (To determine whether you are HSP you can take a test on Aron’s website http://hsperson.com/test/highlysensitive-test/) Navigating through life feeling other people’s emotions and moods can drain energy without our awareness. Like sponges, we soak up all the energy that we find ourselves surrounded by and it leaves us wondering, “Why is life so intense?” Perhaps you have been called “too sensitive” by others in your life. Those who are HSP can sometimes even be targeted by energy vampires, can feel overwhelmed on a daily basis, noticing that negativity is more present than they would like in their lives. Instead of feeling like victims, those of us with HSP can use understanding of their personality for their victory! By creating deliberate steps each day to empower, protect, and cleanse energy, we can guide ourselves towards living a life of intention and peace. 5 steps to protecting your energy: 1. Create Awareness. Begin to notice your sensitivities without judgment. Track when you feel most drained, irritated, and what type of situation it is or with whom. 2. Decide to Protect your energy daily. Begin to understand your energy is not an unlimited commodity and that you can decide how it is expended and replenished.

3. Visualize your strength, your boundaries, and your protection. It may be an invisible shield you have mentally create around you or a literal boundary you will create with an individual. 4. Use Natural Elements for Cleansing. Use the element of water to cleanse energy by taking a salt bath or use a mindful shower to connect to the present moment. Enjoy sitting around a fire and imagine it cleansing negative energy and thought patterns from the air around you. Ground yourself on the earth feeling the grass and earth and deliberately moving your energy though your body into ground. 5. Move That Energy. Skipping, running, jumping, dancing anything moves your body and allows you to shift energy and release natural endorphins to replenish your energy. To learn more about HSP and energy protection, contact Helene Verdile at hverdile@center4c.com, (518) 470-0048. Helene offers multiple programs including Calling All Empaths: Embracing and protecting our highly sensitive selves starting June 26th, as well as one-on-one coaching. Helene is a Life and Spiritual Coach at Inspired Life Coaching and co-founder of The Center for Clarity, Compassion & Contentment ~ A Wellness Center at 801 Route 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12027. Helene Verdile and Kim Perone are Certified Life Coaches at The Center for Clarity, Compassion & Contentment ~ A Wellness Center located at 801 Route 50 (behind Edward Jones), serving clients one-on-one and in group coaching programs and can be reached at Hverdile@center4c.com, (518) 470-0048; Kperone@center4c. com (518) 301-3593. You Deserve To Be Your Best Self! I have had people ask, “Do you really want me to get checked every week for the rest of my life? Even if I have no symptoms?” My answer has been, “No, only as long as you want to be at your best and continue to work toward fully expressing your purpose and potential in life.” Do you still take your car to the mechanic for an oil change even if you FEEL like it’s running smooth? Yes, because you know your car needs regular maintenance to keep it functioning at it’s best. Sure, you may have gone a week without needing an adjustment, and if you are clear, we’ll celebrate! But the only way to know for sure if you are clear is to get checked. Many people are just fine with the idea of taking an aspirin or some other medication every day for the rest of their lives. But those things, at best, only prevent you from getting worse and usually do nothing more than cover up symptoms. They can do nothing to actually improve the long-term situation. Many people fail to recognize just how important a properly functioning nerve system is to reaching their health and life goals. But it is impossible even to have normal thought processes without a clear nerve connection. And your spine must be aligned and functioning properly in order for you to have that clear nerve connection. There is a difference between not being sick, and being optimally well. I find it curious that people will spend time and money trying to “not die,” but they have a very hard time investing in something that will actually help them to progressively LIVE more fully. When someone works out and gets totally fit and healthy, does he then say to himself, “I’m glad I never have to work out again!?” Of course not. If someone is hungry and eats until she isn’t hungry anymore, does she say, “Boy am I glad I never have to eat again now that I’m full!?” When you wake up after a good night’s sleep, do you think to yourself, “alright! Now I never have to sleep again!?” Of course these are ridiculous questions. Doing all of these things on a regular basis, along with all of your healthy lifestyle habits and keeping a positive attitude will ensure you are at your best every day. The same is true of getting your spine checked, and adjusted if necessary, by your chiropractor. Many parents appreciate the importance of regular checkups for

their children’s teeth, hearing, and vision but draw a blank when it comes to a chiropractic checkup. A chiropractic checkup may be one of the most important checkups your child ever has! Health problems in childhood or even adulthood have been traced back to spinal and structural damage at birth. Doctors of Chiropractic love to see the whole family, from babies to grandparents, coming in for checkups. Many “chiropractic families” report having more energy, improved health and less dependency on drugs and medications. It is not unusual to hear a parent state that since starting chiropractic care their children get sick less frequently and less severely, have less ear infections and take less antibiotics and other drugs than their classmates. Because it is possible to have subluxations (spinal misalignments) yet be symptom-free, all children (and their parents!) need periodic chiropractic checkups. It is each of our responsibility to keep our bodies as whole and healthy as possible by living a healthy lifestyle, including keeping your spine in alignment and functioning. It is time to invest in your health today! Aren’t you worth it? Call, text, or email Dr. Amy to reserve your first apptointment today! Call Dr. Amy (518) 399-3810 or email at chiropractor@thriveglenville.com today to set up an appointment to discover the best version of yourself! 353 Saratoga Rd. The Great Divide (Not in reference to the separation of the Americas) A distinction really. Between significant and very difficult to ignore or overcome. I am talking about The Great Divide between the past and the future. Many times we can find ourselves clinging to the past. Regrets, remorse, if only I had done things differently. Our what if’s can hold us back. By creating walls we protect ourselves from the possibility of reliving each of those things. Trying hard to avoid it at all risks. So what do we do? We tend to look towards the future. I will be better “if only” I get that job, life would be good “if only” I made more money. I would be happy “if only” I met the perfect person, “if only” I could take a vacation or “if only” I had a bigger house. We set these goals and work and work and work. As each one is achieved, we tack on a few new ones. Realizing that they didn’t work their magic as we anticipated. What about the NOW? The here and now doesn’t exist. It becomes The Great Divide. The Great Divide between the past and the future. Just today I sat and listened to Pastor Phil Munsey give a very inspirational message. His own words were well received. However, as he recited the words of an old song by Harry Chapin called “Cat’s in the Cradle” the entire audience was silent, allowing the words to resonate. Some of you can remember this song, if not, take a listen. A real listen. It’s about a man and his boy. The boy would ask, “When you coming home dad?” He replied “I don’t know when, but we will get together then, we will have a good time then.” The boy said “ I am going to be like you dad.” As time went on and the boy grew and moved away, the dad grew older. The dad would call and ask to see his boy, and his boy replied... “I’d love to dad if I could find the time, my job a hassle and the kids have the flu, but dad it was sure nice talkin’ to you.” As the dad hung up the phone, it had occurred to him - he realized his son had grown up just like him. His boy was just like him. How big is your Great Divide? One foot in the past and one in the future doesn’t leave much room for the present. You know the saying.... The present is a gift. Don’t let this gift become a past of regret or remorse. Don’t allow yourself to look so far in the future that the present never gets to be a gift. Step into the moment today. Take a deep breath and breath it in. Spend time with those who love you and maybe just sit and watch the flowers grow. Take the time to talk to someone you haven’t spoken to for while. Do it today. Not then... Take advantage of the present and I think you will see what a true gift it really is.

Pros and Cons of Probate In estate planning circles, the word “probate” often comes with a starkly negative connotation. Indeed, for many people — especially those with larger estates — financial planners recommend trying to keep property out of probate whenever possible. That being said, the probate system was ultimately established to protect the property of the deceased and his/her heirs, and in a few cases it may even work to an advantage. Let’s look briefly at the pros and cons of going through probate. The Pros For some estates, especially those in which no will was left, the system works to make sure all assets are distributed according to state law. Here are some potential advantages of probating an estate: • It provides a trustworthy procedure for redistributing the property of the deceased. • It validates and enforces the intentions of the deceased if a will exists. • It ensures taxes and claimed debts are paid on the estate, so there’s a finality to the deceased person’s affairs, rather than an uncertain, lingering feeling for the beneficiaries. • If the deceased was in debt, probate gives only a brief window for creditors to file a claim, which can result in more debt forgiveness.

• Probate can be advantageous for distributing smaller, less complex estates in which estate planning was unaffordable. The Cons While probate is intended to work fairly to facilitate the transfer of property after someone dies, consider bypassing the process for these reasons: • Probate is a matter of public record, which means personal family and financial information become public knowledge. • There may be considerable costs, including court, attorney, and executor fees, all of which get deducted from the value of the estate. • Probate can be time-consuming, holding up cash flow to pay important bills of the estate and distribution of the assets may be delayed for months, and sometimes, years. • Where next-of-kin are disabled, missing, or disagreeable, there can be frustrating procedural delays. • Probate can be complicated and stressful for your executor and your beneficiaries. Bottom line: While probate is a default mechanism that ultimately works to enforce fair distribution of even small estates, it can create undue cost and delays. For that reason, many people prefer to use strategies to keep their property out of probate when they die. Also, it is important to remember that a Will does nothing to help you in the event of incapacity nor does it protect your assets from high medical costs or creditors’ claims. While you are alive, you may need other documents — health care proxy, power of attorney and/ or asset protection trust, in order to help with management of your person and your property. Where these documents are not in place, incapacity can be a total catastrophe for the whole family. A skilled estate planning attorney can develop a strategy that is right for your situation and make life easier for the next generation. Burial and Caskets By Kathleen A. Sanvidge, Licensed Funeral Director and Owner, Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home

Hello friends and neighbors! I would like to get back to our monthly discussion about the process of the arrangement conference and final modes of disposition for your loved one. In April, we talked about cremation as an option and this month we are going to discuss the traditional practice of burial. If your family has chosen burial in previous generations, it is likely that the choice to bury will continue. Most people are familiar with the concept of burial, or “interment.” But they may not be aware of the variety of options many cemeteries offer, including: • Ground Burial: burial of the casket below ground. • Mausoleum: a large building that provides above-ground burial spaces, known as crypts, for entombment. • Private Family Mausoleum: a small structure that provides above-ground entombment of anywhere from 2 to 12 family members. When you are certain that burial is your choice of disposition, you will need to select a cemetery. We can offer some guidance and give you contact information for local as well as out-of-town cemeteries. Next, we will need to know if you are planning a private or public visitation and if so, where that will take place. Some families choose our home, their own residence, or even a church setting. Either way, we will ask you to provide us with the clothing you want your loved one to wear and remind you to include all undergarments. Shoes are optional and if your loved one had favorite jewelry, we can use that for the visitation and/or funeral and remove any or all of it before interment takes place. Remember that viewing is not required for burial. You can ask us to prepare your loved one and dress them but choose not to see them. Although embalming is not required by NYS law, each funeral home has the right to follow their own policies. My policy requires embalming, if there is a public wake and if I am holding remains in my care for more than 24 hours. When choosing a casket, there are many designs and materials to choose from. Caskets range in price from under $1,700 to $20,000. Be assured that you will be offered many choices to suit your style and budget. Caskets come in a variety of hardwoods, metals, and for those who are more concerned with environmental issues, there are a growing number of bio-degradeable materials available to choose from. A burial vault – which is a lined and sometimes sealed outer receptacle that houses the casket – is required in most cemeteries. It protects the casket and body from the weight of the earth and heavy maintenance equipment. There are various models to choose from, ranging in cost from $1,195-$13,000.

Easy Edging and Mulching Over the years I’ve shared my method of using cardboard under mulch for weed control. Every year people will come up and thank me for saving them so much time once they tried it. Here it is, easy edging and mulching; a quick way to conquer weeds for great looking beds. I have an area that is difficult to mow around so I decided to turn it into a mulched bed to make mowing easier. I used the hose to outline the edge I want It will be a nice rounded bed that will be easy to mow around. Then I finish edging the new bed. I use a straight bladed shovel for a nice neat edge. Simply slice into the grass at the edge of the bed at a steep angle 4” deep. Grass can’t cross that barrier of air so it won’t make it into the bed on the other side of the trench. I just toss the clumps I dig out into the bed...why waste good soil I say. “But what about all the grass and weeds in the bed...and all the clumps of grass you tossed in?” you’re asking. I suppose that I could spend a couple of hours digging out all the grass and weeds, but I have a much quicker and easier way to deal with that...cardboard! A layer of cardboard will smother the grass and it will die. All the clumps of sod that I tossed in will compost into the soil. I’m always on the prowl for large pieces of cardboard. Here’s the bed all covered with cardboard. I used a razor knife to slice the cardboard along the edge of the bed. Make sure that the cardboard overlaps heavily so the grass and weeds can’t get through...8” of overlap will stop them. I also used the razor knife to cut the cardboard so it fits around the trunks of the pines and hydrangea. Now all that’s left is putting

mulch on the cardboard. This is the fun part, and it goes down quickly. I put a 4” to 5” layer of cedar mulch down. There are many types of mulch, but I like cedar because it’s cheap and smells nice too. Now the mulch is down, the area looks great and mowing will be simple. It looks a little sparse now but more plants can be added to the bed easily. Just brush the mulch aside, cut a hole in the cardboard and plant....easy peasy and it looks so much better now. In all, this took less than an hour, and I used 7 bags of cedar mulch. In the vegetable garden, I use the same method except that I’ll use straw on top of the cardboard instead of cedar mulch. During a wet year like this one, I’ll wait until later in the season to cover the soil to give it a chance to dry out and warm up. Seed beds and other areas can’t get covered and still need to be weeded but at least the aisles remain weed free. By fall earthworms will have eaten most of the cardboard and any that is left can be turned into the soil along with the straw adding organic matter and feeding the soil. Thanks for the read. Don’t Let Your Investments Go on “Vacation” Summer is here – and so is vacation season. Americans spend a lot on their summer getaways – more than $100 billion in 2017 alone, as reported in Travel and Leisure magazine. When you hit the road, you will enjoy getting away from your regular tasks, but there’s one part of your life that should never take a break – your investments. To keep your investments working consistently and efficiently for you, consider these suggestions: Match the right investment with the right “job.” You hire an electrician to install a light fixture, you employ a plumber to clear a clogged drain, and you would not expect either one to work on the other’s project. In a way, this view of a division of labor is similar to how you might look at different investments. In general, you purchase stocks with the hope of achieving the growth necessary to help you meet long-term goals, such as a comfortable retirement. On the other hand, when you purchase certain fixed-rate investments such as certificates of deposit (CDs) or money market accounts, you know they won’t provide as much growth potential, but are available to fund a short-term goal – such as a dream vacation. Evaluate investments’ performance relative to your goals. Some people think the only way to evaluate their investments’ performance is to track them against a well-known market index, such as the S&P 500. However, using an index as a measuring stick has some drawbacks, one of which is the lack of a personal connection to your situation. Look at it this way: In many types of organizations, you typically go through performance reviews, where your work is assessed in terms of how well it helped you move toward your goals – and you can follow the same process with your investments. Specifically, you can measure their performance by how effective they are in helping you move toward your financial objectives. For example, if you need your portfolio to provide you with a certain rate of return to meet specific retirement goals at a designated age, but you find that you are not

26

| Yo u r H o m e t o w n e | I s s u e C V

currently on track toward meeting these goals, you may need to adjust your investment mix to potentially provide you with a higher return. Be aware, though, that seeking higher return potential will likely mean taking on more risk. You may want to consult with a financial professional to make sure you find a risk/reward ratio suitable for your goals and risk tolerance. Look for hard-working investments. Some investments work especially hard. Some stocks, or investments containing stocks, pay dividends. Instead of taking the dividends, you can choose to reinvest them, purchasing even more shares – and increased share ownership is one key to helping build financial resources for the long term. Dividend reinvestment is typically automatic, so once you have chosen this option, there’s really no extra work on your part. (Keep in mind, though, that companies are not obligated to pay dividends, and they can be reduced or eliminated at any time.) In the investing arena, as in many endeavors, hard work can be rewarding. So look for opportunities to keep your investments gainfully employed throughout your life. Christopher Nyhan runs the Edward Jones office in Burnt Hills, NY. First WIN of the Season The 2018 season up to now has been a struggle for the Your Hometowne sponsored #1M of Mark Mortensen but that all changed on Saturday, June 2 as Mark took the Mortensen Motorsports car to victory lane at the Fonda Speedway in an exciting feature event that saw Mark take the lead for the win on the final lap of the 25-lap event! Ricky Quick used the pole position start to his advantage in the 25-lap sportsman feature and took the lead at the drop of Joe Kriss’ green flag with Josh DeMagistris second after starting alongside of Quick. Sixth place starter Mark Mortensen used a three wide move on the outside of the backstretch to get by both Dan Santabarbara and Charlie Tibbitts for the third position with an early yellow out for Kathy Bellen and Kurtis Hohensheldt who spun on the backstretch. On the restart, Mortensen was the new second place car after getting by DeMagistris for the position with Quick still leading the event. On the outside of turn four on lap three, Mortensen got by Quick for the lead with the caution out shortly afterwards for Quick who spun on the backstretch after contact in the rear of his car by Tony Farone. For his actions, Farone was sent to the rear of the field as Quick pitted to check over the car and he also restarted at the rear of the field. Mortensen continued to lead on the restart with 11th place starter Cody Clark the new third place car after he was able to get by Santabarbara for the position followed by Aaron Burton and 22nd place starter Ray Zemken who was now fifth. Clark was able to get by DeMagistris for the second position on lap seven with Mortensen now out to a comfortable straightaway advantage.

Mortensen’s big lead was taken away on lap 18 when he was held up by the lap car of Kurtis Hohensheldt allowing Clark to close in. Clark got alongside of Mortensen on lap 19 as the two raced side by side with Clark taking the lead at that point on the inside of turns three and four. Lap traffic continued to play a role in the outcome of the event over the final laps as Clark also had issues getting by the back markers. Mortensen never lost touch of the leader and when Clark slid up high in turn two on the final lap Mortensen was able to take the Jumpin’ Jacks Drive-In/Socha Plaza sponsored Teo car to the lead as he got under Clark going down the backstretch and cleared a lap car to retake the lead going into turn three. Mortensen held his line through turns three and four to cross under the checkered flag first for his 19th career win in the division, which is second on the all-time win list. Clark, DeMagistris, Santabarbara, and Farone who came all the way back up through the field completed the top five in the event. “This feels good,” Mortensen told Dan Haslun in victory lane. “We struggled early this season and found some issues with the car when I went through it this week. I was running the outside just trying to hold on and knew when I got the lead back I just had to get through turns three and four clean.” For more information about the Mortensen Motorsports #1M Racing Team you can go to their website www.markmortensen1m.com and you can also like them on Facebook.

what’s

Grilled Brussels Sprouts with Balsamic Glaze Brussels on the grill come out perfectly charred on the edges and make the perfect side to grilled steaks, pork or chicken. • 1 lb brussels sprouts, stems trimmed and cut in half • 2 tbsp olive oil • 4 long wooden skewers • 1/4 tsp kosher salt • fresh cracked black pepper • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (I use Delallo) 1. lace the brussels on skewers as pictured and place the skewers on a large enough piece of sturdy foil to cover the top. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. 2. Heat the grill, when hot lower the heat to low and put foil with skewers on the grill, tenting the veggies with the foil. Cook about 30 minutes, turning every 5 minutes to keep them from burning. When done, drizzle with balsamic glaze and eat right away. Wiggle Rom: I’ve made this on a steel plate, no skewers. It was delicious and easier!

Tangy Barbecued Chicken Baked Corn Casserole • 1/2 c. finely ground cornmeal • 1/2 c. butter, melted and cooled • 1/4 c. sugar • 2 large eggs • 2/3 c. whole milk • 1/4 c. cream • 2 c. frozen corn, defrosted • 2 8-oz. cans creamed corn • kosher salt • Freshly ground black pepper • 1/2 tsp. paprika • 2 tbsp. chives, for garnish 1. Preheat oven to 375°. 2. In a large bowl, mix cornmeal and butter until smooth. Whisk in sugar, eggs, milk and cream until incorporated. Fold in corn and creamed corn and season with salt, pepper and paprika. 3. Pour into your baking dish and bake uncovered for 1 hour, or until center is set and top is golden. Garnish with chives and serve.

• 2 broiler/fryer chickens (3 to 4 pounds each), cut into 8 pieces each • Salt and pepper • BARBECUE SAUCE: • 2 tablespoons canola oil • 2 small onions, finely chopped • 2 cups ketchup • 1/4 cup lemon juice • 2 tablespoons brown sugar • 2 tablespoons water • 1 teaspoon ground mustard • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder • 1/4 teaspoon pepper • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce 1. Sprinkle chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Grill skin side down, uncovered, on a greased grill rack over medium heat for 20 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, make barbecue sauce by heating oil over medium heat. Add onion; saute until tender. Stir in remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. 3. Turn chicken; brush with barbecue sauce. Grill 15-25 minutes longer, brushing frequently with sauce, until a thermometer reads 165° when inserted in the breast and 170°-175° in the thigh. Yield: 12 servings.
