KIDS IN LIFE’S CLUTTER I wanted to show the difficult part of the Cowley Road. I created black-white messy background which describes real adult life and challenging details in Oxford; traffic, pollution, mess, rush, colourless, depressed...

To depict the children, I used coloured wool threads. This symbolizes that children are ready to be guided and are unique to themselves. When they come together, they create a colourful harmony. Like coloured threads coming out of the black and complicated life and stretching in all directions.

Abstract Model / Watercolour, Sew, wires

GETTING KIDS’ OPINIONS ON A DESIGN

I contacted Atomic Burger Restaurant and we recreate their children menu’s activity page and I asked kids to draw their dream shop, in order BY AN AUTODESK STUDENT VERSION to understand the missing parts of the street from the eyesPRODUCED of the children. From the drawing, I can say they want to see colourful, interactive design that appeals directly to them more than their parents.

MATERIAL INPUT TO SPATIAL RELATIONSHIP

The children will run two parallel workshops with wool yarns. The first is the panel design to divide the space and create the workspaces they want. The second is the clothing designs that they will present once a week. The same 3 tactics will be used for both methods; hand knitting, chain and pom-poms.

I created a workshop to create an interactive space and used wool yarns as the main material. Wool is stored underground. It reaches inside with transparent tubes, so that the main idea can be understood from the outside of the building. Children can pull and cut the threads of the colour they want as much as they need.

1. While the panels are lying down, they are decorated by passing a rope through the plastic apparatus on them.

2. The panels are placed on wooden legs and brought to a vertical position. The wooden frame is light enough to be carried by two children.

Testing Hand-Knitting Methods

3. Multiple panels can be put together with the help of wooden sticks. As many panels as desired can be added to divide the workshop area.

0. Safe elements are very important as the average age is 5 - 12 years. Plastic half bullets with a hole in the middle to prevent injury.

PLAYFUL NEGOTIATIONS The main focus is the movable circus tent roof system. I closed the walls directly, it helped me create an enclosed space for the isolation and security of this area. A fully Closed Space is necessary when the design is serving kids. The walls are beginning to spread over the area. The reason for this situation is to support the theme of ‘spreading and dominating the field’, which I want to support with ropes. Besides symbolizing the idea of children spreading into the field, the ropes start from the ground and enter the building, reflects the wool, which is the main material, as if entering a factory. To support the idea of transforming the workshop area into a showroom, I started with circus tent system. INTERACTIVE ROOF DESIGN Allows kids to recreate the space not just horizontal also vertical. It can transfer workshop to studio area with extending the roof like in circus. While workshop form, it’s atmosphere is warm and can be easily divide with kid made platforms but when the roof is up, it is a big hall with a stage and also the audience.

Sections with roof Positions/ Autocad and Sketchbook

The main element in the workshop is woollen yarn. Outside of my design, I want to feel like it’s a tiny woollen spinning mill. The ropes coming from around go inside the building. Besides this, when the design is viewed from above, it creates the image of a spreading cell. The idea I want to give here symbolizes that the child users are not cared enough on the street and starting from this centre and spreading to Cowley. The boys are spread out as coloured strings on the grey street.

Bees in Greece Greek honey

Greece has a long history of bee-keeping and there are more beehives per acre in Greece than any other country in Europe and wide biodiversity of flora combined with the Aegean summer sun is what helps produce this unique honey. they have less humidity, which means they are denser and richer. So Greek honey is considered the best in the world. Honey is the first traditional sweetener used by Greeks since antiquity.

Taking Thekids Idea From Bees

Since antiquity, when according to Greek mythology EROS (the Greek god of love and sex ) dipped his arrows into honey before shooting them, the golden liquid has been flowing in abundance in this country, free of genetic modification and gleaned from vast, uncultivated lands.

I wanted to located kids in a way that parents can see easily, so I thought I can but them in shelves. Location playground on walls can be my main element. As precedent, I look at bees which use similar way to grow their babies.

Tunnels

Playground

In bee hive, there are three main parts. I can use these parts to create different parts in the playground. With connecting few cells togather I can create Queen Cell which is the biggest one can create bigger playground such as ballpool. Connection few cells together as a line can create tunnels so kids can climb and pass to queen playcell to other.

Collages on acrylic paper

This texture, which is formed by dividing a surface into pentagons, creates areas where bees leave their larvae. In this project, it provides a playground for children. While families take care of their own business like bees, children can play games in these geometric areas and also remain easy to see and safe.

I chose this form to bring sunlight into the space and create an interesting atmosphere inside while creating an interesting texture from the outside. Since this form can also be used in the opening and closing windows of the pavilion, being fold-able is an important factor. In addition, being a natural material is important to lose the feeling of nature, so wood is used.

The longest curved column for yoga building design is 6 meters, so the required minimum thickness should be 30 cm. 8 strips are used for a column with a width of 30 cm.
