Indonesia Career Evening 2018: Event Booklet

Page 1

WELCOME MESSAGE Following a successful Indonesia Career Evening last year, I am delighted to welcome all of you to this year’s annual career event. It has proven to be a beneficial platform for Indonesian students to get employability insights here in London. Indonesians coming to the UK to further their education is no new concept – I myself attained my higher education here. This year however, we are seeing ever-increasing numbers of Indonesians gaining a UK higher education degree and international exposure, in a solemn effort to compete in a global job market.

H.E. Dr. Rizal Sukma Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, Ireland and International Maritime Organisation

Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) in the UK in collaboration with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are playing an important role in facilitating the growth of Indonesian students here; by preparing them for the different challenges that come with facing international competition, we can rest assured knowing that Indonesian students will not be left behind and may even have an edge among their peers. The breadth of participating companies continues to grow, and with it the potential pathways opened to the talent pool of bright future leaders of Indonesia. I am highly grateful for the spread of companies attending, from oil and gas firms, pharmaceuticals, technology sector, to a variety Indonesian State-owned Enterprises. To accelerate Indonesia’s economic development there needs to be strong human capital; exemplary students in the UK are surely a key catalyst to allow the nation to reach its potential. Business entities both in Indonesia and the UK are given the opportunity to leverage this career platform to tap into this capable pool of bright future leaders. On this occasion, let me on behalf of the Indonesian Embassy express our highest appreciation to this excellent initiative organised by YIPA in the UK in collaboration with ICAEW. I also thank Indonesia’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Anglo-Indonesian Society, BritCham Indonesia and UK-ABC who have endorsed and supported this annual career events. It is my hopes this initiative will grow larger in the coming years to connect Indonesian and British employers to great talent pools in the UK to support the nation’s long-term growth, and inspire other activities which minimise existing talent gaps in the markets.
