WELCOME MESSAGE Welcome to Indonesia Career Evening (ICE) 2019. It is truly my pleasure to welcome you to this annual career event hosted by the Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) in the UK. For the past five years, YIPA UK has played a key role in providing Indonesian students in the UK the opportunity to gain career insights from employers and professionals. The Indonesian embassy in London and myself champion this annual initiative, further advancing human capital development for our bright Indonesian talents.
H.E. Dr. Rizal Sukma
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and International Maritime Organization
Distinct from any other career event in Europe, ICE is tailored to Indonesian students overseas, as it connects students to employers with opportunities both across Europe and back home in Indonesia. Indonesians coming to the UK for further education is not new – I myself attained my higher education here. However, we are seeing an ever-increasing number of Indonesians gaining a European higher education degree and international exposure these days, making the work done by organisations like YIPA UK all the more important to enable Indonesians to compete in the international job markets. Through the annual ICE, YIPA UK in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are facilitating career development of Indonesian students in the UK and Europe. A strong human capital is essential to the acceleration of Indonesia’s economic development, and university students across the UK and Europe can be a catalyst for this push. As the breadth of participating companies at ICE continues to grow, more business entities are given the opportunity to leverage this career platform to tap into a pool of bright future leaders. From the Indonesian State-owned Enterprises to global UK companies, I am deeply grateful to all of the participating companies for helping make this event a success. On this occasion, let me on behalf of the Indonesian Embassy express our highest appreciation to YIPA UK and ICAEW for organising this excellent initiative. I would also like to thank the British Embassy Jakarta, Ministry of SOE, Forum Human Capital Indonesia, Equatorise, Anglo-Indonesian Society, British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia, Global Indonesian Professionals’ Association (GIPA) and UK-ASEAN Business Council for endorsing and supporting this annual career event. I thank you.

ABOUT
YOUNG INDONESIAN PROFESSIONALS’ ASSOCIATION
WHO WE ARE? Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) in Britain aims to promote business and investment bilateral relationship between the UK and Indonesia through a community of future business leaders. YIPA in Britain is a professional network, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in London where businesspersons from any nationality with an interest of Indonesia can network with Indonesian professionals working in the UK.
WHAT WE DO? We have three ways to achieve our purpose within YIPA in Britain. We do an annual YIPA signature event, an annual Indonesia Career Evening and monthly YIPA social gathering.
SIGNATURE
EVENT
YIPA Signature Event bridges knowledge gaps by promoting latest business and economic insights from Indonesia to Britain as well as by exploring business trends in Britain which are relevant to our members. We collaborate with our partners from both public and private sectors to amplify our impacts and to get greater media coverage. We have co-hosted ministerial level events with Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Chairman of Indonesia’s FSA and many more.
SOCIAL
YIPA Social Gathering acts as a networking platform for Indonesian professionals, Indonesian expats working in the UK and people from other nationalities currently residing in the UK with an interest in Indonesia. We organise a monthly gathering for our members which allow us to explore leadership, entrepreneurship, lifestyle, and other professional development topics.
CAREER
YIPA Indonesia Career Evening aligns with our growth strategy whereby we want to encourage more Indonesian students studying at the top universities in the UK to start their professional journey either in Britain or back home in Indonesia. Both British and Indonesian corporates should be able to tap into our network of the brightest Indonesian talents in the UK.
