Past Indonesia Career Evening

01

OUR SPECIAL GRATITUDE TO Welcome to Indonesia Career Evening (ICE) 2019. It is truly my pleasure to welcome you to this annual career event hosted by the Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) in the UK. For the past five years, YIPA UK has played a key role in providing Indonesian students in the UK the opportunity to gain career insights from employers and professionals. The Indonesian embassy in London and myself champion this annual initiative, further advancing human capital development for our bright Indonesian talents.

H.E. Dr. Rizal Sukma

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and International Maritime Organization

Distinct from any other career event in Europe, ICE is tailored to Indonesian students overseas, as it connects students to employers with opportunities both across Europe and back home in Indonesia. Indonesians coming to the UK for further education is not new – I myself attained my higher education here. However, we are seeing an ever-increasing number of Indonesians gaining a European higher education degree and international exposure these days, making the work done by organisations like YIPA UK all the more important to enable Indonesians to compete in the international job markets. Through the annual ICE, YIPA UK in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are facilitating career development of Indonesian students in the UK and Europe. A strong human capital is essential to the acceleration of Indonesia’s economic development, and university students across the UK and Europe can be a catalyst for this push. As the breadth of participating companies at ICE continues to grow, more business entities are given the opportunity to leverage this career platform to tap into a pool of bright future leaders. From the Indonesian State-owned Enterprises to global UK companies, I am deeply grateful to all of the participating companies for helping make this event a success. On this occasion, let me on behalf of the Indonesian Embassy express our highest appreciation to YIPA UK and ICAEW for organising this excellent initiative. I would also like to thank the British Embassy Jakarta, Ministry of SOE, Forum Human Capital Indonesia, Equatorise, Anglo-Indonesian Society, British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia, Global Indonesian Professionals’ Association (GIPA) and UK-ASEAN Business Council for endorsing and supporting this annual career event. It is my hopes this initiative will grow larger in the coming years to connect Indonesian and British employers to great talent pools in the UK to support the nation’s long-term growth, and inspire other activities which minimise existing talent gaps in the markets.
