WELCOME MESSAGE

After a successful Indonesia Career Evening last year, I am pleased to welcome all of you to this event again. It has become a useful platform for Indonesian students to get some employability insights here in London. Today, I am seeing an increasing number of Indonesians coming to the UK to study and gain post-study experience. Their UK higher education degree and international exposure may give an edge among peers.

Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) and Anglo-Indonesian Society (AIS) organized activities would provide them with useful informations for their stay and work in the UK. I also highly appreciate a growing number of international companies which manage to leverage this annual career platform to tap into bright future leaders of Indonesia in the UK. The strength of human capital is a key catalyst to accelerate Indonesia’s economic development and to allow the nation to reach its potential. Similarly, business entities in the UK will find these talents invaluable source of knowledge about Indonesian markets and how to do business in the region. On this occasion, let me on behalf of the Embassy express our highest appreciation to this excellent initiative organised by YIPA and AIS. Once again, I am confident that the role played by Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association and AngloIndonesian Society would contribute to the strengthening of Indonesia-UK relations.

INDONESIA CAREER EVENING Indonesia Career Evening 2017 is a platform for corporates to tap into a talent pool of Indonesian Students studying at the top 15 UK universities, especially targeting final year undergraduates, postgraduates and recent graduates. Aligned with campus recruitment and outreach programmes, this event is the perfect opportunity for students to gain some career insights and meet a number of recruiters from Indonesia and UK-based corporates, in addition to networking with Indonesian professionals working in the UK, as many of the these professionals have previously studied at UK Universities. OUR SPEAKERS Before he became ambassador, Dr Rizal Sukma received his Ph.D. in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and served as the executive director of the Center

for Strategic and International Studies in Jakarta. He has been named “Top 100 Global Thinkers” by Foreign Policy magazine.

As this year’s Keynote Speaker, Sir Henry will be sharing his insights and leadership experiences gained throughout his long career, emphasising the Indonesia-UK relationship in a variety of fields.

A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, he joined the firm in 1961 and has been the Chairman of Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd since 1972.

As speaker, Pedro will be giving a company presentation about graduate careers at Kraft Heinz. Graduating with a degree in Economics from Ibmec Business School in 2009, he joined The Kraft Heinz Company in 2014,

first serving as Chief Financial Officer for the Asia-Pacific region, and then as the Chief Operating Officer of PT Heinz ABC Indonesia, before taking up his present role in 2017.

As speaker, Thao Bui will be discussing about ICAEW’s mentorship scheme for the Southeast Asian Network. She joined ICAEW as an Associate

Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2015 after graduating with a Master’s degree from the University of Birmingham in Money, Banking, and Finance.

ABOUT YOUNG INDONESIAN PROFESSIONALS’ ASSOCIATION WHO WE ARE? Young Indonesian Professionals’ Association (YIPA) in Britain aims to promote business and investment bilateral relationship between the UK and Indonesia through a community of future business leaders. YIPA in Britain is a professional network, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in London where businesspersons from any nationality with an interest of Indonesia can network with Indonesian professionals working in the UK.

YIPA Signature Event bridges knowledge gaps by promoting latest business and economic insights from Indonesia to Britain as well as by exploring business trends in Britain which are relevant to our members. We collaborate with our partners from both public and private sectors to amplify our impacts and to get greater media coverage. Bloomberg Indonesia Economic Outlook is a prominent event on this category.

YIPA Social Gathering acts as a networking platform for Indonesian professionals, Indonesian expats working in the UK and people from other nationalities currently residing in the UK with an interest in Indonesia. We organise a monthly gathering for our members which allow us to explore leadership, entrepreneurship, lifestyle, and other professional development topics.

YIPA Indonesia Career Evening aligns with our growth strategy whereby we want to encourage more Indonesian students studying at the top universities in the UK to start their professional journey either in Britain or back home in Indonesia. Both British and Indonesian corporates should be able to tap into our network of the brightest Indonesian talents in the UK.
