Hernia Repair Post-Operative Care Tips Please follow the recommended advice to care for your wound:

When to seek medical attention:

DO:

Persistent fever (>38.5°C), chills

Take the pain killer as prescribed.

Persistent pain

Keep wound clean and dry.

Showering is permitted. However, please avoid water wetting the dressing or wound.

Persistent nausea and vomiting for weeks

Swelling around the surgery site

Please follow up with an appointment for review and removal of stitches if required.

Blood or yellowish fluid around the surgery site

Redness surrounding the incision site that is getting worse or bigger

DO NOT: •

Do not lift heavy objects for the next 6 weeks.

Do not overexert yourself for the next 6 weeks.

Avoid strenuous activity until the doctor’s clearance during the follow-up appointment.
