Adult Vaccination Patient Information Leaflet Every year, thousands of adults in Singapore fall sick from infectious diseases that could potentially be prevented. Vaccines protect against these diseases and are important throughout your life – from birth to old age. 3 Reasons for adults to get vaccinated: 1. Vaccines can save your life Influenza and pneumonia can cause serious complications and even death, especially in the elderly and/or those with other existing health conditions such as: • Kidney/ Liver/ Lung disease • Heart disease • Diabetes
2. You can protect yourself and your family Vaccines are one of the safest ways to protect your health. They work with your body’s natural defences to lower your risk of getting certain diseases. If you don’t catch the diseases then you can’t pass them on to your loved ones! If you do still get the diseases, then you are likely to suffer from less complications. 3. Vaccinations can save you time and money Even healthy people can fall sick enough to miss work and be unable to take care of their family or other responsibilities. Serious infections can cause complications that require hospitalisation.
