As a leading non-profit organization, the YMCA of the East Valley opens access to opportunities, relationships, and resources for kids to be who they are and become who they want to be. We believe everyone, regardless of income, deserves access to our services.

Last year the Y awarded $413,817 in Financial Assistance to members. If you would like to contribute and help children and families access our programs, please scan the QR code below to donate.

AQUATICS

AQUATICS

With an Association Membership, you get access to the 3 Aquatic Centers across the East Valley! With 4 indoor pools, an outdoor pool, children’s splash zone, spa, and sauna, the Y’s Aquatic Centers offer a variety of options for our members!

The Y offers tons of exciting programs and classes to get you in the water and having fun. *These are just SOME of the classes we offer! Visit ymcaeastvalley.org to view all of our classes. All aquatic centers are equipped with a pool lift to aid in water accessibility for all members.

Adaptive Parent & Child Swim

Ages 5 – 18

This Adaptive Aquatics swim class is a parent-child class for children ages 5 – 18 years with special needs. The goal of this class is to get your child comfortable in the water, teach them how to be safe around water, and become independent swimmers.

Lap Swim

Ages 6+

Lap Swimming is available with lanes divided by speed. Swimmers are welcome to swim laps during open lap swim times. Swimmers must choose the appropriate lane for their speed and stroke choice.

Masters Swim

Ages 18+

Training goals are set by the individual swimmer and a Certified Swim Coach will help create personalized training plans, instruct, and evaluate each participant. Achieve personal goals such as cardiovascular conditioning, weight loss, toning, improving technique and training for triathlons.

Parent-Child Program

Ages 6 months – 5 years

The skills taught in the Parent/Child program center around five main components: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games, and rescue. A child must be accompanied by an adult in all parent-child classes.

Please Note: All children 2 years and under and/or not potty trained must wear a non-disposable swim diaper while swimming in YMCA pools. Non-disposable swim diapers may be purchased at the front desk for $15.

Power Plunge

Ages 15+

A mid-to-high intensity water exercise class focusing on cardiovascular conditioning and muscle toning. This class will help you to tone and condition your body without added stress on your joints.

Preschool Program

Ages 3 – 5

The Preschool Program encourages water acclimation to increase comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance. Water movement encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently. Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Youth Program

Ages 6 – 12

The Youth Program focuses on developing water stamina and stroke mechanics. Develop intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances. Stroke development introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke. Refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Beginner Teen/Adult

Ages 13+

Designed for participants age 13 years and older. Youth and adult beginner level, this is for participants still needing to get comfortable in the water or in deep water.

Advanced Teen/Adult

Ages 13+

Designed for participants age 13 years and older. Youth and adult advance level is for participants working on stroke development for all 4 strokes.

At the Y, there are no strangers – only friends you haven’t met yet. While you improve your health and mobility through our fitness programs, you’ll also make new friends and find opportunities to strengthen the social fabric of your community.

The Y provides programs and activities that promote wellness, reduce the risk for disease, and help others reclaim their health. The YMCA of the East Valley welcomes members of all abilities and skill levels to participate in group exercise, fitness challenges, and equipment orientations.

BodyPump

Ages 15+

This barbell class will sculpt, tone, and strengthen your entire body, fast! Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you’ll burn fat, gain strength, and quickly produce lean muscle. Try it once and you will be hooked.

BodyCombat

Ages 12+

Unleash your inner warrior with this mixed martial arts inspired cardio workout. Strike, punch, and kick your way to superior cardio fitness. BODYCOMBAT Express is the same workout in 45 minutes.

Get Banded

Ages 15+

Our Loop Bands are used to rapidly activate your glutes and engage your hips through an array of lower body exercises. Stimulate the legs, glutes and hip complex to give the thigh and butt a leaner look. This class will work the entire body.

Personal Training*

Ages 15+

Get one-on-one attention from a certified personal trainer who will design a specific regimen just for you that will complement any workout style while giving you that extra push you may need to see results. Packages include single, 5, 10 or 15 sessions. *Pricing may vary by location

Kettlebells

Ages 15+

This jam-packed training includes strength, balance, flexibility, muscular/cardiovascular endurance and coordination. This class teaches ballistic movements performed with the “bells,” participants should have full use of range of motion.

Step Classes

Ages 15+

This cardio class uses an elevated platform that is used to help blast calories and fat. You will also strengthen the body while developing lean muscles. Choreography is fun and easy to follow! We offer different variations of step, We offer different variations of step, including Step Aerobics and Classic Step.

Stretch & Tone

Ages 15+

A beginning exercise class with a focus on easy-tofollow exercises and stretching.

Yoga Classes

Ages 15+

Learn specific sequences of yoga postures and breathing designed to achieve a balance between physical fitness and a healthy, supple, agile, and functional body. We offer different variations of yoga, including Classic Yoga, Flow Yoga, and Gentle Yoga at select locations.

GRIT

Ages 15+

GRIT is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength, cardiovascular fitness and build lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plate and bodyweight exercises to blast all major muscle groups. GRIT Strength may also be offered at select locations.

GROUP EXERCISE

Pilates Mat

Ages 15+

Pilates Mat will help you to develop your core strength while focusing on coordination, flexibility, and stability-based movements. This workout is low impact and is ideal for members of all ages and abilities. Participants will develop their posture and body alignment, enhance balance, and help relieve stress.

Spinning/IGC Cycle

Ages 15+

An indoor stationary cycling program for all levels of fitness. The efficient, high-energy, group exercise integrates music, camaraderie, and visualization to take you on a fun calorie-burning ride. Spin Express/ IGC Cycle Express is the same class but in 45 minutes.

POUND

Ages 15+

Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilatesinspired movements. Using Ripstix ®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.

Y Barre

Ages 15+

An energetic, fun workout that fuses fitness techniques from dance, pilates, and strength conditioning that will tone the whole body. This class is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility with a bit of a ballet twist.

Zumba

Ages 12+

This mixture of salsa cardio and hip-hop dance will get your hips moving and your heart pumping. You’ll have so much fun breaking a sweat you won’t even realize you just worked out for fifty minutes. This class is great for all fitness levels.

At the YMCA, kids have the chance to let their creative talents shine! They can explore aerial movements, learn how to dance, juggle, and even unicycle. Coaches and peers provide encouragement as children build strength, confidence, and coordination through tumbling, balancing, as well as other floor exercises. From jumps and cartwheels to handstands and beyond, the program equips children with the skill set needed to take their creativity to the next level!

Baby Ballet

Ages 3 – 5

Dance participants will learn basic ballet positions with feet, port de bra (carriage of the arms) various jumps, and leaps while having fun. This class is structured like a studio program, therefore, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Ballet

Ages 6+

Dance participants will learn basic ballet positions with feet, port a bra (carriage of the arms) various jumps, and leaps while having fun. This class is structured like a studio program, therefore, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Ballet/Jazz

Ages 4+

Dance participants will learn basic ballet positions with feet, port a bra (carriage of the arms) and jazz expression while having fun. This class is structured like a studio program, therefore, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Lyrical Dance

Ages 6+

This class is designed to introduce participants various dance expressions like Ballet, Jazz, Acrobatics and Modern Dance.

PERFORMANCE ARTS

Cheer/Intro to Cheer

Ages 5 – 16

An entry-level class aimed at older children, Cheer is designed to teach them important skills such as strength, flexibility, and coordination. Kids will also get the chance to learn simple chants, cheers, and dance routines. This is a great way for them to stay active and have some fun!

*Depending on the location, this class may be split into two separate classes: Cheer I and Cheer II.

Baby Hip Hop

Ages 3 – 5

Dance participants will learn beginning Hip Hop steps and moves. This class is structured like a studio program, therefore, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Hip Hop

Ages 6+

This course offers a great introduction to the essential movements of hip-hop. By taking this class, your child will learn fun and challenging choreography set to today’s popular hip-hop tunes. This class is structured like a studio program, therefore, parents are to observe outside of the classroom.

Beginning Aerial Combo

Ages 7+

This class is perfect for the new aerialist. You will learn strength and coordination skills to improve your aerial awareness and learn basic tricks and moves on different circus equipment.

Circus Classes (2024-2025 Performing Season)

Ages 3+ • Sept 2024 - May 2025

Have you ever wanted to run away and join the circus? Well now you can! This is the place to be for children, ages 3 and up, to learn basic skills such as unicycling, diabolo, aerial arts and so much more. Circus classes are designed for current participants to keep up their strength and skills and gives new participants an opportunity to experience new and different acts to inspire them for the upcoming performing season.

Kinder Gymnastics

Ages 3 – 5

Kinder Gymnastics teaches basic tumbling and balance skills to preschoolers. This class introduces skills like focusing, listening, and patience while in a fun learning environment.

Gymnastics

Ages 6+

This class teaches skills that lead to and are taught in Level 1 of Gymnastics. Participants will work on their strength and flexibility, while also learning basic tumbling and balance skills.

Get in the game with YMCA Youth Sports! The YMCA is here to help children grow into active, skillful athletes while also learning valuable life lessons like teamwork, patience, and dedication. We offer a variety of leagues, clinics, and programs for those looking to learn fundamentals to those focusing on developing skills.

Flag Football ges

Ages 5 – 12

In our flag football class, your child will learn valuable life lessons like socializing, teamwork, and core values such as caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. They’ll practice football skills in a supportive, secure environment while sharpening their decision-making, footwork, and creative thinking all while having a blast!

Youth Soccer

Ages 5 – 17

YMCA Youth Soccer helps youth to develop the basic skills and fundamentals of the sport, while offering opportunity for individual learning. We encourage youth to grow as healthy, responsible contributors both on and off the field.

*Separate Youth Soccer Clinics may be available at specific locations.

Youth Basketball Leagues (4-Weeks & 8-Weeks)

Ages 5 – 17

We offer two Youth Basketball Leagues:

• 8-week program (Regular League) August 26th - October 19th

• 4-week program (Flash League) October 28th - November 23rd

Our Youth Basketball Leagues serve as a fun way to introduce children to the sport of basketball and improve all player’s skills as well as athletic abilities. Our leagues emphasize sportsmanship through team-building and skill development.

*Separate Youth Basketball Shooting Clinics may be available at specific locations.

Youth Volleyball Program (8-Weeks)

Ages 9 – 17 • 8/26 - 10/19

Our 8-week YMCA Youth Volleyball program teaches participants beginning and intermediate volleyball skills while learning to play on a team. Improve your hand-eye coordination, work on speed, and practice techniques to help you excel in the sport!

*Separate Youth Volleyball Clinics may be available at specific locations.

SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES

Drum Corp

Ages 5+

Our Drum Corps offers simple yet effective drum lessons for beginners, bypassing entry-level pad training. Designed for kids, these sessions help develop rhythmic and psychomotor skills in a fun, educational environment. Each lesson focuses on music reading, performance, technique, and aural skills as they apply to drums. We start with a warm-up featuring various exercises, making it an enjoyable way for kids to pick up a new hobby and understand music as a whole.

Martial Arts (Beginner/Youth)

Ages 5 – 8

Martial Arts at the YMCA teaches your mind, body, and spirit to act as one; while introducing techniques that focus on balance and coordination through fun activities that promote positive attitudes, develop strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, discipline and self-confidence.

*Redlands’ class is held outdoors in the meadow.

Martial Arts (Youth & Adult)

Ages 9+

Learn self-defense in YMCA Martial Arts!

This class is a fun and safe way for children and adults to develop control and discipline while learning combat skills. YMCA Martial Arts are non-competitive and encourage sportsmanship and personal growth. Redlands class is held outdoors in the meadow. Our family class allows parents and children to grow within the Arts together while creating lasting memories.

Itty Bitty Sports

Ages 3 – 5

Itty Bitty Sports programs help youth to develop the basic skills and fundamentals of the chosen sport: Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, T-Ball, or all listed (Combo Itty Bitty Sports). Participants will learn the basic building blocks for success in a fun environment. Offered sports may vary by location.

Youth Run Club

Ages 9 – 14

Participants will meet and perform conditioning skills such as knee highs, heel kicks, ladders, etc. Runners will meet on the track in the fitness center at the beginning of each class. Please send a water bottle with your child to stay hydrated!

Youth Speed & Agility

Ages 10+

Participants will meet and perform speed and agility skills such as ladders, cone drills, box jumps, etc. Participants will meet in the Group X room located in the back of the wellness center. Please send a water bottle with your child to stay hydrated. We ask parents to either sit in the Fireplace Room during class-time or workout in the gym.

The Y nurtures the potential of every child and teen by supporting their unique youth development journey through comprehensive programming. From cradle to career, the Y provides all youth with the tools and resources they need to succeed in life.

Kids Club

Ages 18 months – 12 years

Kids Club is a FREE Child Care Service for Association Members. Our Y staff is available to watch your children while you exercise! Take a Group Exercise class, enjoy the Fitness Center, or swim a lap in the pool while your child enjoys fun and games at Kids Club.

Children ages 18 months – 12 years old are welcome for up to 2 hours each day! Children must be Y facility members to participate.

Preschool University

Ages 18 months – 5 years

At our Preschool we focus on nurturing a child’s development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

After School Care

K – 5th Grade

Count on the YMCA of the East Valley to make after school care easy and convenient by having child care right at your school! YMCA After School Care provides opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive as they make their way from K-5th grade.

We provide daily physical and educational activities like sports & recreation; homework support to assist students in meeting their teacher-assigned requirements; arts, science, math, and technology that allow students to engage in activities; all while socializing with friends at the same time.

SENIOR HEALTH & FITNESS

AOA PROGRAM

As a part of the Active Older Adults program, the YMCA offers a variety of exercise classes for men and women ages 50+. Seniors are encouraged to stay active with the YMCA through fitness classes that fit their individual health goals. Our AOA Fitness classes are available to help members that are looking for a specialized workout to improve overall well-being at a friendly pace. Members love YMCA Group Exercise classes for their adaptability, encouragement, and support for all skill levels – including members with physical limitations.

Zumba Gold

Ages

50+

Zumba Gold adapts the traditional Zumba formula with modified moves and pacing to suit active older participants and beginners. This friendly and fun dance class combines salsa cardio and hip-hop, getting you moving to the music!

SilverSneakers® Stretching

Ages

50+

Stretching classes are low impact and low intensity workout that will tone your muscles, increase your range of motion and flexibility. Participants will develop breathing techniques to compliment this resistance training workout.

SilverSneakers® Circuit

Ages 50+

Cardiovascular exercise is the highlight of Silver Sneakers® Circuit. Featuring upper-body strength workout using hand weights, elastic tubing, ball with non-impact aerobic activity. A chair is available for support and easy head-to-toe stretching.

SilverSneakers® Classic

Ages 50+

SilverSneakers® Classic utilizes hand weights, elastic tubing, and exercise balls to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living. A chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers® Yoga

Ages 50+

Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform exercises. Relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
