YMCA SCC @ Jurong West was established in 2002 and is one of 2 YMCA community-based student care centres. YMCA SCC @ Jurong West currently has students from a total of 11 primary schools. The majority of the students attend the neighbouring Jurong West Primary School while the others come from Frontier, Corporation, Juying, Rulang, West Grove, Henry Park, Pioneer, Lakeside Xingnan and Boon Lay Garden Primary Schools.

ASEAN Para Games It was the first time Singapore was the host for the 8th ASEAN Para Games in December 2015, with the Singapore Sports Hub as the main sporting location. We were very lucky to be invited by Sport Singapore to participate in a once in a lifetime unique experience in the ASEAN Para Games and Carnival. Our students had plenty of fun at the carnival booths and They had the chance to watch a badminton tournament. Take a look at the photos of our students at the carnival!

Desk Stationery-Holder Workshop A 1-day art workshop was held in the December holidays to teach students how to make their very own stationery-holder using mainly jumping clay and cardboard. The students had a lot of fun molding clay and crafting their own stationery-holder.

December Holiday Cooking Workshops 2 cooking workshops were held during the December holidays. The students were given a chance to experience making their very own ice-pop as well as making biscuits that resembled owls.

Samsung Digital Art Programme A Samsung Digital Art Programme was held during the November school holidays. Students were taught to use the Samsung tablets to create their own individual poster themed PARTICIPATIVE SPORTS. Our students were able to come up with very interesting posters on sports such as badminton, basketball, running and swimming.

Storytelling Competition During the September holidays, there was a storytelling competition held at YMCA of Singapore. Four students, Chua Jia Xuan (P5), Chong Shei Xuan (P3), Nicholas Er Jun Xian (P2) and Oscar Lee Zheng Kang (P1) were selected to represent YMCA Student Care Centre @ Jurong West for the competition. Congratulations to Jia Xuan and Oscar for emerging as 2nd and 3rd place runners-up in the competition. We would also like to commend all the students for pitching in their time and effort to prepare for the competition.

Centre Closure Days 1st Half 2016 11 March, Friday 15 June, Wednesday
As the year of 2015 comes to an end, we look forward to an exciting start in 2016. The devoted team of teachers at YMCA SCC @ Jurong West promises to bring more activities and programmes that children love. Some of the exciting activities for the first half of 2016 includes: • Junior’s Entrepreneurship (Funfair) • Peace Lantern • Holiday Cooking Sessions • Holiday Outings
