Brief introduction to the activity
This is the 6th year that YMCA is taking in making Peace Lanterns to be set afloat upon the river in Hiroshima Peace Park to pray for peace in the world. This beautiful and moving ceremony originated in Hiroshima several years after the atomic bombing.

Well done, Ferlin! We are proud of both of you, Guan Rui and Ferlin.
Congratulations, Guan Rui!
I would like to show my greatest appreciation to YMCA for organizing such a great Story Telling Competition. I felt even blessed when Ferlin was given such a great opportunity to be able to perform on stage. This not only built up her confidence to speak in public, but also gave her a chance to see how other good speakers performed.
My Son, Guan Rui was delighted when he was selected to participate in the English Story Telling competition. Although it is just a few minutes of telling a simple story, the effort he has put in makes us proud of what he has achieved. The courage to stand in front of the participants and guest is a great achievement to him already. Winning the 3rd prize is just an added bonus for him. We would like to express our sincere thanks to both Ms Vivian Ong and Ms Ng for their time and encouragement given to my son for the competition.

Applying new knowledge on the gadgets Experimenting with Samsung tablets
On 19 November, 40 students had the opportunity to participate in the Samsung digital workshop. Every student received a tablet and was able to explore the functions of it with a set of step-by-step instructions from the instructors. Students were then encouraged to use their imagination and creativity to create a unique piece of artwork. They were focused and attentive throughout the workshop. The instructors also educated the students about the benefits of Digital Arts such as saving paper and eliminating the hassle of carrying art materials around.

Look at their tired but happy faces!
On 18 December, the children from Sengkang Green had a joint outing with the children from Springdale Primary School to Kids Amaze at Jurong Safra. Before playing, the children had a briefing from the staffs regarding safety and rules to abide by in the playground. The playground was very crowded as there were children from other student care centres. It was a fun but tired morning for both the teachers and children.
