A Warm Welcome to the YMCA Family, Student Care at St Hilda’s Primary School!

2015 YMCA Story-telling Competition In the Annual English Story Telling Competition, our students were required to tell a Singapore story. They had fun participating and it was a joyous occasion when our P1 student, Adelle Neo clinched the Champion title for the Lower Primary Category.

September Holidays During the September holidays, the theme was “All about fish”, conducted by Teacher, Ms June. In relation to the theme, the students went for an outdoor excursion of learning and fun to Qian Hu Fish Farm.

Long Kang fishing has been done by countless children growing up in the past. Our new generation of children seems to enjoy it as well.

Children’s Day Celebration The Children had a fun fulfilling celebration with games, sing-along session and food galore prepared by the teachers. They were also delighted with their children’s day presents from both YMCA & teachers.

JEP 2015 (Junior Entrepreneurship Programme) Students were experienced being a junior entrepreneur by selling their own creations of rabbit towels and cotton pompoms. They were taught to make the items and the profits were given to St Hilda Primary School to help the needy students in the school. November Holiday Activity @ Pink School Bus We had 2 days with the “Pink School Bus” Vendor that teaches the students all about planets. They even have hands-on making their own planets chart & DIY rockets.

Students are showing their DIY rockets and having fun trying them out. At the end of the 2 day course, they are given certificates of attainment.

Y MasterChef @ SHSCC The Students were given an opportunity to have hands on practice in making simple yet delicious noncooking recipes. Some of them even tried the recipes at home for their family & friends!

Y Basketball @ SHSCC The students were taught the basics of playing basketball. They were taught the skills of passing and dribbling to shooting on a basketball court. At the end of the lesson, we had a friendly match between the boys’ & girls’ team. The girls’ team won the game!

Samsung Digital Art @ SHSCC The students were given hands on drawing and colouring using Samsung tab. They had so much fun trying it out and even had a completion on short story through their drawing. This enables them to showcase their talent and think out of the box. Below are pictures showing them engrossed with the Samsung tablet.

8th ASEAN PARA Games @ Singapore Indoor Stadium The students were shown videos and learnt about the ASEAN Para games. They were excited to know that ASEAN Para Games are created especially for the handicapped and that though they are handicapped they are capable of playing sports just like us physically able people but in a different way. Below are pictures of the children enjoying themselves at the Singapore Indoor Stadium watching soccer. They were surprised at how good the player were.

Milo Discovery @ Milo Factory The Students were given the opportunity to know about the history of Milo. They were given a tour around the factory, to see how Milo is produced. They even had the chance to smell different kinds of cocoa and malt during the tour. They were also let into the secret of why Milo is so delicious! At the end of the tour each student received gift pack which consisted of a packet of milo drinks, notebook, pen and a badge.

Explorer Kids @ ANG MO KIO Explorer Kids The students were all geared up and ready to let loose their excitement to play @ Explorer kids with their friends! They were greeted by friendly staffs and kick started their day with ceramic coin bank painting where they could bring home their masterpiece. The top 3 best painted coin bank won a small token. The children were allowed 2 hrs non-stop play at the big indoor playground!!

The students enjoyed the ball pool a lot.

Christmas Party @ SHSCC In this Joyous Season, we from YMCA of St Hilda would like to wish everyone a “Merry Christmas and a Happy 2016”! We had a mini potluck party, games and gift exchange. The children enjoyed themselves and wished that the party would be longer.
