MESSAGE FROM THE PEOPLE SERVING SINCE DAY ONE.
Dear Uni-Y members and volunteers, In 2005, Uni-Y Singapore was established in Singapore Management University with a small Executive Committee of less than 10 members. Fast forward ten years, Uni-Y Singapore has grown from strength to strength and has established a presence in NUS (in 2007) and NTU (in 2009). Our mission remains unwavering to develop and empower youths to be servant leaders who will impact our local and international communities. Over the years, Uni-Y has strived to meet the twin objectives to holistically nurture our volunteers as well-rounded individuals and create social impact to communities. Through workshops and training sessions, our members and volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve, while conferences and internships provide exposure to Uni-Y members, broadening their perspectives on global social issues and challenges in the global social service sector. In everything that we do, Uni-Y seeks to create a positive and meaningful experience for our members and volunteers: •
For all volunteers, we provide an opportunity to put the values of Compassion, Servant Leadership, Honesty, Accountability, Respect and Excellence into action;
•
For Christian volunteers, we provide a platform to put the Christian faith into practice – to love our neighbour just as Christ has loved us.
2015 was a milestone year for Uni-Y as we celebrated our 10th birthday with a carnival at YMCA Proms @ the Park and launched #10kful, a social media campaign which sought to inculcate the spirit of thankfulness amongst youths and people in Singapore. We also witnessed the completion of the Uni-Y Community Champions (CCP) Programme by our first batch of participants. One of the key highlights was the Community Project Initiation, which involved an enriching dialogue session at The YMCA Conversation Series that explore the possibilities to maximise the potential of the intellectually disabled and the avenues of support for them and their carers. On behalf of YMCA of Singapore, I thank each Uni-Y member and volunteer for your commitment and dedication in impacting the lives of the disadvantaged. I would also like to express my deep appreciation to our university partners, club advisors, corporate partners and VWO partners. Without your support, contribution and partnership, Uni-Y’s success would not have been possible. Finally, I thank the staff from YMCA of Singapore for being mentors and role models to the Uni-Y youths. May the Lord continue to lead Uni-Y Singapore as we seek His wisdom and guidance to empower youths and serve communities. In His Service, Teo Zi-Ming Chairman, Youth & Volunteers Development Committee 2015

We serve the elderly who live alone by cleaning their homes to provide them with a clean and safe living environment. In addition, we also support the emotional needs of the beneficiaries by befriending and encouraging them to be part of the community at large.
We bring joy and companionship to the elderly by befriending them, and conducting enrichment activities like art and craft sessions for them.
Y ARTS CHALLENGE (Uni-Y NTU) We employ visual arts as a platform to encourage and develop talents of the underpriviledged children. This programme aims to develop and nurture literacy and visual skills in children, and provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.

#SHAREYOURSMILE During the season where university youths were busy preparing for their projects and final examinations, we decided to be a blessing to our school communities and put a smile on their faces. Not only were exam welfare packs distributed at Uni-Y booths, encouragement notes and #shareyoursmile files were given out to the school community.

TWENTY FOUR/SEVEN, THIS IS WHAT WE DO: SOCIAL IMPACT
Uni-Y SMU Freshmen were engaged in various community service activities with VWOs such as Ren Ci Hospital and Beyond Social Services. They had the opportunity to interact with children from Beyond Social Services through an amazing race at Sentosa, and bonded with the elderly at Ren Ci Hospital through singing and games. The other highlights include Jericho’s Night, where freshmen gathered at the roof terrace of YMCA of Singapore for a night of good music from local upcoming bands, accompanied with delectable food and scenic views.
UNI - Y STEP UP
Uni-Y NUS Freshmen were given the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the intellectually challenged, enjoy meaningful social awareness activities such as the Game of Life and Disability Challenges. The camp’s major highlight was at YMCA Proms @ The Park, where freshmen and Uni-Y leaders gathered with over 40 beneficiaries from VWOs such as Blue Cross Thong Kheng Home for a time of concert, carnival games and meaningful interaction. It was a fun time of inter Uni-Y bonding with Uni-Y NTU and Uni-Y SMU as well, as participants were able to see beyond their individual school and capture a glimpse of the complete Uni-Y Singapore and YMCA identity.
Uni-Y NTU Freshmen were given the opportunity to interact with residents from Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled. They brought the residents to YMCA Proms @ the Park, held at Gardens by the Bay on 25th July for a time of carnival, picnic and stage performances. The freshmen also participated in meaningful social awareness activities like Game of Life and took part in a Visually Handicapped Experience with a guest speaker from Dialogue in the Dark.

UNI-Y STUDY MISSION A team of 7 Uni-Y ExCo leaders embarked on a Uni-Y Study Mission to Thailand from 3 to 7 February. The objective of the trip was to learn the best practices of our international YMCA counterparts.
IMP(ACT) TRAINING Through structured interactive experiences, facilitation discussions and reflective activities, Uni-Y leaders learned different leadership models that can be applied during their Executive Committee term.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME Uni-Y’s Leadership and Management Programme (LAMP) is held annually for potential ExCo members from all three Uni-Ys. Our volunteers are equipped with leadership competencies through learning leadership models, engaging in lively group discussions and taking part in creative experiential learning.
Friendships were formed among like-minded youths from different countries, and ideas were exchanged about their different Uni-Y clubs!

THE YMCA CONVERSATION SERIES The YMCA Conversation Series is a platform to engage and connect youths to share and exchange ideas in order to learn from one another. The fifth event was themed “Special Seeds: Growing Your Child’s Potential”. Our Guest of Honour was Ms Denise Phua, Mayor, Central Singapore District. The dialogue session was chaired by the Uni-Y Community Champion Participants as part of their Community Project Initiation. We had an engaging panel discussion with our invited speakers from various organisations as they shared their valuable experiences and expertise, allowing parents to gain insights about the possible support available for their children with intellectual disabilities, and opportunities available for their children’s future. On top of that, the youths had the opportunity to learn more about the special needs community through a training workshop conducted by regular YMCA volunteers Mr Sean Ng and Miss Joanne Koh. After the training workshop, they had the chance to put their knowledge into action, through an art & craft session with people with intellectual disabilities. Through this experience, the youths have gained a deeper understanding of the special needs community.

NINE FRUITS OF OUR LABOUR
GALATIANS 5: 22 - 23 (NASB)
LOVE TRIUMPHS ALL.
TAKE HEART IN HAVING PATIENCE WITH THE IMPATIENT.
FAITHFUL IN ALL THAT I DO.
BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF - CONTROL; AGAINST SUCH THINGS THERE IS NO LAW.
I FIND JOY IN THE LITTLE THINGS.
KINDNESS IS A LANGUAGE FOR WHICH I SPEAK.
GENTLENESS CAN CRACK THE HARDEST SHELLS.
MAKE PEACE; NOT WAR!
GOODNESS IS A VIBE I GIVE OFF TO THOSE AROUND ME.
A MASTER OF SELF-CONTROL IS WHAT I AM.
