year ahead! 1

This year we welcomed a new batch of joyful Primary 1s! Though they may be small in stature, they are filled with spunk and fun! We held a mini orientation program with fun-filled ice breaker games and much laughter which allowed students and teachers to know each other better.

SAY HELLO TO OUR ADORABLE PRIMARY ONE STUDENTS! This orientation also helped teachers to get to know and understand the students and their individual needs. The CBSCC family has been blessed to get to know, learn and play with them this year and we look forward to more fun days with these cheerful children.

During the March school holidays, the teachers planned various activities to give students a break from their books. One such activity was an outing to “Dance Your Heart Students watching the instructors perform the dance that they will be learning.

Out! Students played fun games and tapped on their creative side to learn the various dance steps. At the end of the day, they performed the dance they learnt for the instructors and teachers! Not only was the activity a good form of exercise for the children, it was also an opportunity for them to step out of their comfort zone and dance their hearts out!

For Valentine’s Day, students made bookmarks for their loved ones. They learnt that Valentine’s Day is not only for couples to show their love for each other, it is also a day for children to show their love and appreciation for their families and loved ones. Students made beautiful bookmarks and they could not wait to give them to their loved ones! For the June holiday workshops, the children were engaged in a wind chime workshop. They were taught to mould flowers and insects to make their own wind chimes! The children had fun moulding clay into cute little butterflies and

Have you ever wondered how submarines are able to navigate underwater and still be able to see what is on the surface? With a good mix of science and craft, the kids were able to make their own periscopes! They were amazed at how everyday items such as mirrors and

delicious is so simple to make? The children were taught to make their own strawberry jam. After slicing some juicy strawberries, mashing and stirring them together with other ingredients on low heat :

Voila! The strawberry jam was ready! The strawberry jam was then poured into their own personalised mason jars. Students could not wait to bring the jars home for their families to taste!

Feeling adventurous? Forest Adventure was the most exciting outing for the June Holidays. Our students challenged themselves physically and mentally, bravely attempting the exhilarating obstacles of the Kids’ Course. It was a fun, exciting and adrenalin rush experience for the students. They really enjoyed the gruelling obstacles and all

Who knew that water pipes, toilet rolls and utensils could be recycled into toys? The students were challenged to work together to build three-dimensional structures using water pipes and joints. The students also made and brought Our young inventors posing with their inventions! How creative!

Our June Holiday outings ended off with a splash! Students had a splashing good time at an indoor water playground! It was a good opportunity for the students to cool down during June’s hot and humid weather. Yew Xian (P1), Allecia (P1) & Valencia (P2) spinning around the ombrella.

There were many thrilling slides and play elements for the students to let loose! Students of different levels also had the chance to interact and bond together. Bright smiles and ringing laughter from the students filled the water playground as they enjoyed themselves!

As Hari Raya was around the corner, the students had the opportunity to know more about it and even tried some traditional Malay food. Never tried dates before? The students had a treat as they tried them. Some students found the consistency of dates to be similar to red beans! Students were awed at the significance of celebrating Hari Raya and were surprised that Hari Raya celebrations lasted for an entire month.

From March to May students were involved in sport stacking lessons. Sport stacking is an individual and team sport that involves stacking plastic cups up and down in specific sequences in as little time as possible. The teachers and aunties are really caring and helpful. The food here is nice. My favourite part would be the outings and workshops that the teachers had planned during the holidays! They are so much fun! - Athena, P3

I look forward to indoor and outdoor play time every day. My friends here are very nice and I like the food here very much. - Megan, P1

Coming to YMCA is fun. I enjoyed the June Holiday outings and workshops. I enjoyed going to Splash where I could play with water and my friends! - Darshini, P1

Parent dialogue session The number one priority at CBSCC is understanding your children’s needs and tracking their improvement. The upcoming parent-teacher dialogue session acts as a great platform for parents and teachers to exchange feedback and concerns. We look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Story telling competition The annual storytelling competition will be held this September! Teachers are already in the midst of selecting talented students with potential to participate in the preliminary rounds in August!

Junior Entrepreneurship Programme Yearly, our students will put their entrepreneur skills to good use as they produce hand-made goods and sell them either internally at the Centre or to the public. The revenue earned would be donated to charity. This exciting venture not only develops their entrepreneurial skills but also develops their creativity on what to create and sell. That's it for now! We hope that the past six months have been an exciting one for all of you. We’re looking forward to the next half of the year with our beloved students. Till we see you again, take care and God bless! With much love: Mdm Sarah, Mdm Lim, Ms Elisa, Mr Joshua, Miss Amira and fellow associate teachers 8
