MILO FACTORY TOUR During the September holidays, our students had an opportunity to visit the Milo factory. The day started with interactive games where the students learnt about the brand's history. The students also had the chance to have a tour of a mini plantation of cocoa trees located right inside the factory! They were shown the packing process of Milo sachets and also the ingredients used to make the delicious drink. Did you know that sugar is not one of the ingredients? The children were as surprised as the teachers!

Learning interesting facts about Milo and its origin!

The students were involved in various activities ranging from learning culinary skills such as sushi-making and pancake-making to science experiments such as volcanic eruptions and understanding static electricity through balloons. There were also hands-on activities making Christmas themed crafts such as paper angels, Christmas trees, giant snowflakes and mini paper snow men! Some of the students were also involved in a puppet show that took place at the Esplanade!

A. PASTAMANIA & FIRE HERITAGE GALLERY At the popular fast food joint Pastamania, students learnt about the origin, history and fun facts about pizza. They were taught the steps of making a pizza from scratch. The highlight of this was getting to decorate their own pizza. This was followed by a trip to the Fire Heritage Gallery where students learnt about the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the roles of the different personnel in protecting Singapore. Students had fun with the interactive exhibits and "putting out" virtual fires and stopping gas leaks.

B. MARINA COVE & PHILATELIC MUSEUM

Fun times at the outdoor playground!

At Marina Cove, the students had an enjoyable time playing at the outdoor playground which had several high element features such as the rock wall, swings and many more! After a sumptuous Macdonald’s meal, the students then visited the Singapore Philatelic museum. Students learnt that every stamp has a story filled with rich cultural history behind it. They had fun at the Harry Potter exhibition and also took part in a stamp design competition.

C. SNOW CITY Before having fun at the snow city, the students took part in a science experiment where they made ice cream using liquid nitrogen. They got to choose their own flavours and toppings and certainly enjoyed devouring their own creations. Next, it was snow time! Adorned in winter wear, the students had a blast at the icy city of snow! The last stop was a splashing time at the water park at the Science Centre.

A. SEQUIN ART Conducted by our very own teachers, the sequin art workshop was an opportunity to awaken the students’ creativity. The workshop taught the students about colour coordination and also, much patience! The end results were such a sight to behold. B. SOY WAX MOULDING Experienced external vendors were invited to teach the students how to mould Christmas themed figurines from scratch! The students had an exciting time getting their hands dirty and were proud of their final products. C. DRY ICE EXPERIMENT This workshop was a complete blast with the students. They were not only able to handle dry ice in a safe environment but they also learnt about the cool facts about dry ice and its properties. The students certainly felt like scientists for a day!

D. SNOW GLOBE MAKING Christmas, adorable figurines, brightly coloured glitter and a lot of fun is what perfectly describes this workshop where students made their very own snow globes from scratch. These snow globes made excellent gifts or mementos for the festive season. Admiring the pretty pieces!

Making sure that the glue sticks!

In September, the teachers’ hard work and dedication were recognised on Teachers’ Day. The students showed their appreciation with cards and gifts which truly touched the hearts of the teachers. The teachers also had a wonderful lunch gathering to commemorate the fulfilment of being a teacher. We would like to thank all parents and students for making that day special and memorable.

In October, it was the teachers’ turn to appreciate our students for being so wonderful and precious. The teachers pitched in for a special lunch and the students were showered with candy and gifts. The students had a fun-filled time with the games and activities that the teachers had planned for them.

The teachers were involved in an animation competition this November. Using the Animoto software, the teachers had to create a video themed “Why do I love YMCA?” It is with great pride that we announce that CBSCC was placed second runner up for the competition.

Held on the Friday before Christmas, the party was very enjoyable with scrumptious food, carolling, games and movies! It also served as a sweet ending to a marvellous year.

The annual parent-teacher dialogue session was held in August. The main objective of such sessions are to ensure that there is a platform for the parents and teachers to communicate effectively regarding all issues pertaining to our students. We would like to thank all parents who took time to come down to CBSCC to make the session a success.

In September, the annual storytelling competition was held at YMCA Headquarters. A preliminary round was conducted at CBSCC itself and a few of our talented students were chosen to participate in the final round. Even though they did not make it to the top, we would like to congratulate Camellia Low (P1) and T. Preethi (P6) for showcasing their talents.

The Junior Entrepreneurship Programme is an annual affair that motivates students to tap into their business skills and creativity. This year, the students were involved in making and selling gorgeous paper flowers and colourful candles for Teachers’ Day. We would like to thank all parents for appreciating the students' handiwork and supporting their efforts. We would like to congratulate our students for doing such a good job and selling off all the products.

Chloe Que (P4) enjoying some quiet time with her book!

In early December, we had invited Molly, the mobile library from the National Library Board to give the students an accessible and convenient way to do one of their favourite things: Reading! The students were thrilled with the features of the mobile library and spent the hours that they were allocated browsing through interesting books of different genre. Most students ended up borrowing books and are looking forward to the next visit from Molly! 6
