Wendy Heng (L) and Nicole Thia (R), presenting our lovely handmade bookmarks to Ms Serene Tham
This term, we piloted a new programme, Togetherhood, from the YMCA of USA. Togetherhood™ is one of USA YMCA’s signature and enrichment programmes, which aims to promote a spirit of giving without expectation and building a culture of community service by connecting students to the community. The children of DLSCC were delighted to embark on a self-initiated project to create handmade bookmarks for the children at Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF). Two of our students, Wendy Heng and Nicole Thia, proudly presented the bookmarks, on behalf of all our students, to Ms Serene Tam, Assistant Manager of Public Education at CCF. 1|P age
Enrichment Programme Term 4: Imagination Gone Wild!
“I love drawing and Imagination Gone Wild makes me think out of the box!” -Clarence Sim (far right)
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere” – Carl Sagan
Let’s put on our thinking caps and create a unique and original storyline to our drawings!
Imagination Gone Wild is an art programme that aims to nurture students into creative and confident learners who can express themselves by communicating ideas, feelings and solutions through imagination and art. Artworks created by the students were displayed in the classroom to encourage the exchange of ideas, as well as to inculcate an appreciation for the work of others.

They made it to the semi-finals held at YMCA Headquarters, where they mustered their courage to pull off a great showing in front of an audience and the panel of judges. 3|P age

“The fruit of your own hard work is the sweetest” -Deepika Padukone
Our students can definitely be counted on for a business startup, judging from their performance from this year’s Y Junior Entrepreneur Programme with the sale of our D-I-Y corkboards. They learnt the basics of business, where they were introduced to organisational skills, business tactics and procedures such as finance, marketing, design, production and sales. The mentors were heartened to see our big-hearted students striving for excellence throughout the journey, knowing that all the proceeds will go to the school’s needy pupils’ fund.

Year-end Holiday Excursions & Learning Journeys
Interactive station games at the “Witness to War – Remembering 1942 gallery
Our Students are always looking forward to the year-end holidays because of the line up of fun-filled excursions and learning journeys planned for them. To kick-start the jolly season, our students were in for an interactive Prata Workshop by Casuarina Curry, not to mention eating the pratas they made! Next up was an outing to Woodlands Waterfront Park where students had to complete an Amazing Race, with emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork. Moving on, we immersed ourselves in the world of sports with the guided tour at the Sports Museum at Singapore Sports Hub. To round up the last outing of the holidays, we visited the “Witness to War – Remembering 1942” gallery at National Museum of Singapore, featuring artefacts from 10 overseas museums. 6|P age
