Primary 1 Orientation This year we welcomed a new batch of joyful Primary 1s! Though they may be small, they are filled with energy and fun! We held a mini orientation programme with fun-filled ice breaker games which allowed students and mentors to know each other better. This orientation also helped mentors to get to know and understand the students and their needs. We look forward to more fun days with these cheerful children.
Chinese New Year We started off the year with an exhilarating celebration. To get into the festive mood, students were involved in decorating the centre by making lanterns, learning the Chinese Calligraphy, sing-a-long sessions and eating Chinese New Year goodies.
Y Junior Entrepreneurship Programme (YJEP) The Y Junior Entrepreneurship Programme introduces the basics of entrepreneurship, marketing, project management and teamwork. Students brainstorm ideas on items to make with a limited budget and sell the hand-made items at a fair. It aims to raise funds to help the less unfortunate. The students understood the meaning and value behind the project and were very enthusiastic during the entire process. Students were trained in perfecting their balloon sculpting skills weekly by mentors. We would like to thank all parents for supporting their efforts. Also, we would like to congratulate our students for doing such a good job and selling off the products.
Imagination Gone Wild 2018 started with our enrichment programme “Imagination Gone Wild. This programme introduces our students to a world of creativity using specific colour schemes for different themes and they learn the art of making different types of origami puppets.
Choral Beats In this enrichment programme, the students were introduced to the different components of music. Through Anna Kendrick’s infamous Cup Song the students learnt tempo, rhythm, beat and sounds. The students were excited and determined to master the beats and sing along to the song simultaneously. The process was not easy and the students learnt to be more resilient and gained confidence as they managed to acquire new skills.

June Holiday Activities My Little Giant The students will not forget the super fun time they enjoyed at “My Little Giant anytime soon. The versatile climbing equipment brought out their fun-loving spirit which knows no boundaries. Some students tirelessly went up and down the big slides as many as ten times, enjoying each time more than the previous.
Playeum (Going Play-ces) Students explored and expressed their creativity in this world of imagination. Under the tutelage of the super fun attendants, they played with wood chips, stones, tyres, light box and a host of recyclables available freely at the indoor play area and made stuff of their own from imagination.

DIY Fridge Magnets In this workshop, students learnt how to make their own fridge magnets by mixing Plaster of Paris, pouring into moulds, and painting them! Students made countless designs from fairies, sea creatures and animals. The students were proud of their wonderful work of craftsmanship!
Shrinking Art Keychain In this workshop, the students had fun using shrink art paper to create and personalise their own keychains. After making their own unique designs, the students watched in amazement as their A5 designs shrunk into highly detailed and pocket-sized keychains.
Pom Pom Plushies Pom Poms are fun and fuzzy little things that students can easily make! These fuzzy puffs of joy was made into different types of creations from Angry Bird, Bat, Mouse, Pig and many more! The making enhances student’s motor skills such as twirling, cutting and trimming.

LIFE Programme Learning is Fun and Exciting (LIFE) Programme initiated by Temasek Foundation Nurtures aims to make a difference to children who goes to SCCs. Through specially designed programmes, children can learn about life values in a fun yet meaningful way. Our centre conducted the curriculum developed by Julia Gabriel Education. As it is important for students to be in touch with their emotions, they received a reflection journal to pen down their thoughts and feelings for the day. Character values were taught through storytelling, games, songs and activities.
Structured Games During the June Holidays, students were involved in many fun structured activities. One such activity was that the students had to dress up their friends as an alien using recycled materials. At the end of the dressing up session, students had to do a catwalk. Students had a fun time as they see their friends trying their best to mimic an alien’s walk. There were other structured fun activities like “Find the objects” (classroom edition), outdoor role-playing games and team-building games.
Parent-Mentor Dialogue Session In May, the annual parent-mentor dialogue session was held. The main objective of such session is to ensure that there is a platform for both parents and mentors to communicate effectively regarding all issues pertaining to our students as they are our main priority. We would like to thank all parents who took the time to come down to KCSCC to make the session a success.

Seed Kindness Fund Junior This programme is organised by the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKF). After brainstorming, the students decided to reach out to Bus Captains. They felt that it is a job that is challenging and often under-appreciated. The Bus Captains welcomed the students and mentors with open arms and warm smiles.
They were grateful upon realising how much love and care was being put into this meetup. They felt that the visit was refreshing, and they were thankful to receive the “Kindness Packages which was prepared and given out by students.
They were surprised when they were told that the students prepared for months for this meetup.
They felt appreciated that this movement has brought them closer to the students whom they ferry most of the time.
Hiroshima Peace Lantern The students were involved in making colourful paper lanterns. This is to remember the victims of the bombing of Hiroshima. These lanterns are sent to Japan to be floated on the Motoyasu River
