Imagination Gone Wild Enrichment Programme We had an art enrichment programme named ‘Imagination Gone Wild’ for our term 2. Students were taught about colours, shapes and lines. We had Mr Valentino Chan from the YMCA School conducting a few lessons at our centre. Each lesson revolved around a theme, such as Zoo or Fairy tale. Students had to draw using shapes and lines to complete the picture in colour. Students were also taught how to make cute bookmarks, pet puppets and baby birds.
Our students, Si Qi, Claudia, Jasper, Wendy and Daxter overjoyed with their product from the enrichment programme.
Y Junior Entrepreneurship Programme 2018
Getting ready to boost our sales!
Everyone is excited to meet PM Lee in person!
For YJEP this year, our centre focused on balloon sculpting - using the theme of Fairy-tale. Firstly, the mentors had to learn how to sculpt the balloon. Then we chose a few students to learn balloon sculpting. The group of students did their best to put on a good show for the public - sculpting the balloons on the spot for the customers. Even though it was a long and tiring day we enjoyed the programme. Our little entrepreneurs did a fantastic job by attracting customers to our balloon sculpting station. The highlight of the day was when we had a chance to shake hands and take a picture with PM Lee.

Seed Kindness Fund Junior 2018
Glynnis and Tharshinie, teaching Tharshinie’s parents simple sign language.
Rayden, teaching his parents the art of sign language.
This was a 4-month long project, and eight students were selected to be the kindness ambassadors. They had to come up with a project to help spread kindness to the community and people around them. For this project, we chose to learn sign language. We hope to inspire the public to embrace the beautiful sign language in acceptance and better understanding for the deaf and the mute. After actively practicing and learning for months, the students conducted a workshop where it was opened to their parents. Parents were invited to learn and pick up some sign languages. Through this project, the students have grown a lot - and they have given their best to learn and practice consistently over the months!
Hiroshima Peace Lantern Programme 2018 Every year, we make peace lanterns to be sent to Hiroshima. Mr. Valentino Chan visited our centre to guide our students on the purpose and making of the peace lanterns. Using some well-designed examples, he taught the students how to make interesting and colourful lanterns.

Captain Cook
Let’s wear gloves when preparing food.
From left: Rinoa, Tharshinie and Wendy enjoying their very own simple Oreo Popcorn.
Students always love to get their hands dirty - be it for art lessons or for simple cooking lessons. The students managed to try out 4 different simple recipes from making ice cream to making their own frosting for their cupcake. The students had a lot of fun learning simple recipes and getting their hands on some cooking skills.
Drag and Drop Workshop
Keith Lim, Lim Kai Xuan and Ethan Leong proudly showing off their work after the workshop. Wein starting off the workshop.
In this Workshop, the students were guided to create a product using basic programming. The goals of this project were to teach students to appreciate programming concepts. It teaches them to work with available tools and encourages them to take pride in their own creations. In addition, they learnt how electric circuits work and develop prototyping skills. This workshop involved their senses of touch, sight, and hearing as it was a very hands-on and interactive workshop.

Y Sport Stacking Competition 2018
Lim Kai Xuan, Angel Lee and Glen Loo were all ready to give their best for the competition.
All the YMCA Student Care centres took part in this event. It was held at our HQ on 19th June 2018. All the little ones were engaged in their stacking practice. We got a chance to meet the youngest World Sport Stacking Championship participant from Singapore, Joshua. Our Relay team managed to get into the finals. Our little competitors had a wonderful experience watching other competitors from different centres.
Khong Guan Factory Tour
Ms Kareen and Ms Nisa with the students outside Khong Guan Factory.
It was an educational tour for our students. They had a glimpse of the production site where the biscuits were made. The students had a chance to feel the biscuits after it was baked. After the tour, we went shopping for the variety of biscuits sold at the sales office. As photos were not allowed to be taken in the factory, we had a group photo taken outside of the factory instead.

Milo Factory Tour
Students and their mentors were excited for the trip and the students were surely happy with their gifts.
This year, we went to the Milo Factory during the June holidays. Students were so excited about learning and knowing more about the delicious chocolate beverage which they drink every day! They understood what ingredients goes into the Milo powder. They were shown samples of the raw materials and learnt how the Milo powder were packed. We ended the trip with playing some digital football games and bringing home a pack of their Milo goodies!
FIFA World Cup
Ms Kareen giving an introduction of the FIFA World Cup to the students.
FIFA World Cup is finally here after 4 years of waiting. Football fever is upon us, we decided to share knowledge about this event with our students! We started off by sharing the history of FIFA World Cup and its past winners. As it was held in Russia this year, we discussed more about Russia, their players and the venues. Students also learned more about the field positions and the common terms used. Some students shared their favourite teams and players excitedly.
