ALL THAT HAPPENED
At IJSCC
Time sure flies and it is 2016! A big Welcome to the new kids on the block, our Primary One batch. For the first half of 2016, we successfully launched two new enrichment programmes, Junior Basketball and Cup Stacking. The latter culminated in a Cup Stacking Championship held at YMCA Orchard on 11th June. Our girls also learned all about old school games during the March holidays and pitted their skills against each other in Bishan Park.

March Holiday Outing BISHAN PARK (15 MARCH)
Zero Point Flipping over the rope with a neat somersault.
Remember the good 'old' times? No internet, no Xbox, no Play station ... just the company of friends and siblings to share a game or two.
The children pitted against each other, in teams, in a series of games like zero point, chapteh, police and thief and hopscotch. After a picnic by the picturesque river, the children had endless fun building sandcastles, climbing and swinging at the Bubble playground.
Building Sandcastles First we sieve the sand, then we add water and pound it into shape What’s the time, Mr Wolf? Children stepping gingerly towards Mr Wolf before he shouts “Dinnertime!” Climbers’ Dome Let’s reach for the top!

HEALTHZONE @ HEALTH PROMOTION BOARD (JUNE 2)
The visit to Healthzone was an eye opener for many of the girls as they learned the facts and figures about our human body and what it takes to keep it healthy. They also had great fun trying out all the fitness equipment and interactive games available. MILO® DISCOVERY TOUR (JUNE 7) (JUNE 7) The Nestlé Jurong Factory which the students visited is the world’s largest producer of malt extract and has been producing MILO® powder for Singapore as well as many countries all over the world since 1984! QIAN HU FISH FARM (JULY 14) The children were guided through a walkabout where they learnt all about the arowana in the House of Dragon and the more common household ornamental fish like goldfish, catfish and rainbow fish. They were taught the basics of caring for fish and the role of the air pump and suckerfish. Before that, the girls had fun at the ‘Longkang’ Fishing session where they found out that it was not so easy to net the fish after all as they can swim really fast.

LILLIPUTT (JULY 21)
Visit to the two main fish galleries, Qian Hu Fish Gallery and House of Dragon
The friendly facilitator at Lilliputt gave the girls a demonstration and crash course on the basic rules, etiquette and skills of golfing - how to swing a club and putt safely. The excited girls were then divided into teams to try out the 18 mini golf holes – all modeled after famous Singapore landmarks. Golfing not only involves precise hand-eye coordination but is also a test of patience when you have to wait for your team members to finish before moving on to the next hole. For some of our older girls, it was also a lesson on caring and helping the younger girls who could not tee off properly.

In this workshop, water resistant rubber clay was used to design and shape the corals, (13 JUNE & 16 JUNE) aquatic plants and fish for the aquarium. The finished underwater ornaments can be submerged in water without getting damaged.
Focusing hard to shape the underwater ornaments.
To non-sticky and squishy. Success!
Next, the girls tried their hands at making bouncy balls using crystal polymer and water. Here, different polymers are crosslinked to make strong, elastic and bouncy balls!
