At the same time, we would like to thank East View Primary School and parents for their never – ending support in ensuring our students are able to enjoy holistic learning experience to their fullest in a safe environment. The first half of 2016 has been exciting for both the teachers and students of YMCA East View Student Care Centre with many highlights that will form lifelong memories. Hosting of PCF Parents – (27th May 2016) Every year, East View Primary School will host a one day session for graduating K2 students from PCF Tampines West to have an experience in a primary school. Junior Entrepreneurship Programme Sengkang South Little Entrepreneurs – (19th March 2016) YMCA East View Student Care Centre was selected to be part of the organising team to operate the stall during this event. Our students were given a chance to be Junior Entrepreneurs for a day at Seng Kang South Little Entrepreneurs bazaar on 19 th March 2016.
During the March Holidays, students in the centre made recycled craft items to sell during this event. This is a learning process for them to give back to society as the profits earned were given to East View Primary School for the less fortunate children.

After the event, the net proceeds received were presented to the school’s Vice Principal, Mrs. Kwok by our students Intan-P5 & Ethan-P3 who were also the volunteers for the event.
Mother’s Day Sales – (5th May 2016) In connection with Mother’s Day on 8th May 2016, our students created flowers using crepe paper at the centre. They presented the flowers to the school’s VPs, Mrs. Kwok, Mdm. Rahima & Mrs. Low. Students sold the flowers and the left over recycled crafts from previous event at the school canteen on 5th May 2016. The profits earned will be given to the school for the less fortunate children.

Character Citizenship Education Character Building – (Jan-June 2016) Through Character Building lessons, students were taught the definition of the core values. Students had to do word search and role-plays to have a deeper understanding of the respective values taught. Students had discussion on how to apply the core values in their daily lives. Through activities, students develop participation and interaction in class thus; gaining confidence.

Best Behaved Level Individual Award – (Jan-June 2016) With the Best Behaved Level Individual (BBLI) Award in EVSCC, we inculcate self-discipline in the students through the motivation system. The students will be observed by the teachers on their attendance, punctuality, general behaviour as well as leadership qualities. As a form of encouragement, we gave out book vouchers and certificates to the best student of each level as well as to the overall best student every month.

Enrichment Programmes My Fun Crayons – (Jan-Mar 2016) Through the 13 sessions of Lesson Plans on My Fun Crayons, students were taught different elements of art (shapes, colours & forms). Students used colour blending techniques to create the 3-dimensional and realistic- looking food. Students understood the difference in drawing and colouring 2-dimensional shapes and 3-dimensional forms. At the end of each session, students had an opportunity to explain and share on their art pieces with the rest of their friends.

Cup-Stacking – (Apr-June 2016) Students went through 13 sessions on cup-stacking lesson plans. They practised stacking plastic cups into various pyramid-shape formations then breaking them down into neat piles again. Cup stacking helped the students to build up dexterity and taught them teamwork. Students picked up the skills and learnt how to work with each other. Students also got to showcase their speed and skills in an in-house cup-stacking competition in the month of July.

Holiday Programmes June Holiday Outings – (30th May - 24th June 2016) Our themes and outings for June school holidays were based on SPORTS. Students learnt Soccer and Basketball, Unusual sport-Bossaball, Korfball & Paralympic Sports-Swimming. Soccer Clinic Students were trained under certified soccer coaches. Through the mini soccer tournament, students realized that with perseverance their ability improved.
Movie Outing - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Through the movie, students learnt that by playing together as a team they develop selfcontrol and discipline.
MILO Factory Trip Students learnt and understood the MILO production process. They discovered science, sports and wellness through the making of MILO. At the end of the tour, they were treated to nutritious and delicious MILO. National Museum and YMCA HQ Visit Students discovered toys and sports from the past during the visit. Remembering the Jurong-Drive in Cinema, students got a view of the drive-in cinema. Soon after that, they went on a tour of YMCA Building, visiting YMCA hotel, auditorium, gym and cafe. 5|Page

Y-Movie: Angry Bird Our students also had the opportunity to watch the Angry Bird Movie at GV–Plaza Singapura. They had a wonderful time there!
Kiasu Parents Team Bonding Event – (25th June 2016) Three families from EVSCC attended a Team Bonding Event on 25th June 2016-Saturday at YMCA auditorium. It was an interactive workshop designed to help reinforce family team dynamics and ultimately the desired happy family atmosphere through experimental-based activities and reflective thinking. It was conducted by Mr. Eddie Yip, a dynamic, vibrant and engaging trainer.
