Time to Rock & Roll

Ryan and his team members competing in the 3:6:3 challenge Our Centre held a friendly cup stacking competition among the students in the centre. There were two categories which they could participate in, individual or team.
During the September Holidays the students attended the ‘Rocks and Corals’ workshop. They learnt about the characteristics, the evolution of rocks and how different minerals have different reactions when exposed to certain chemicals. They also learnt about the threats that are destroying the already fragile coral reefs around the world.
The students were very excited and practiced hard. Preliminary rounds were conducted within the centre and those who qualified made it to the finals held on 8th July 2016.

Let’s twist again!!
Listening the experiences of firetrying fighters Thetostudents hard at work their best from the officer to Civil bendDefence and twist the balloons At the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, the students embarked on a tour of the past and learnt how the fire-fighting and rescue technology have progressed from the late 1800s till modern day Singapore. There were customised interactive stations for them to experience what fire fighters and rescuers undergo in an operation.
During the balloon sculpture workshop they were taught to sculpt dogs, swords, rabbits and flowers. Some found it challenging but they did not give up and tried their best. The students got to bring home their own sculptures at the end of the workshop.

An afternoon of fun! The students got to enjoy the wonder of play at one of Singapore’s largest indoor playground with one of the highest indoor spiral slides at Kids Amaze SAFRA Jurong.
The students imagined what it’s like to be a pilot and to take flight. They learnt what makes an airplane fly and everything about aerodynamics. They did several experiments to experience and fully understand the science behind flight.

The students learnt about the hardship our founding fathers of Singapore had faced in building our nation to what it is today.
Looking forward to an exciting 2017!
Through this workshop they learnt more about what Sir Stamford Raffles and Tan Kah Kee did for Singapore and opening its doors to the world. The students also learned about rubber plantations which played an important role in Singapore’s development.
