On 21st June 2017, 8 students from YMCA SGSCC participated in the “Y SPORT STACKING” held at YMCA HQ Auditorium at One Orchard Road. It was organised by YMCA in partnership with the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) Singapore represented by Mr Allan Ong and his team. Our team from the lower primary (Lam Jun Hei, Hailey Leong, Avril Tan & Valent Chan) are champions for the 3 – 3 – 3 team relay event. Lam Jun Hei bagged silver for the 3 – 3 – 3 individual event. Although the upper primary representatives did not make it through the finals, they still win a place in our hearts. Ms Exal Rose Zambra

Junior Entrepreneurship Project
Above are the testimonies of SGSCC students on how the Junior Entrepreneurship Project has encouraged them to learn and have fun at the same time.
Since 2013, Junior Entrepreneurship Project (JEP) has been our annual program in training our YMCA students in entrepreneurship for a charitable cause to help the needy children in Sengkang Green Primary School (SGKPS). We started with selling snacks and craft items within the school in its initial years. However, for the last 2 years, YMCA has the privilege of partnering Punggol CC, Bryan is concentrated This project has in weaving magazines evolved into a to create a holder Little Entrepreneur & Family Carnival in a Hougang Neighbourhood Park, selling DIY crafts made Insyirah is having fun from recycled designing the surface materials like bottles,of the phone speakers toilet rolls, fabric, greeting cards, zippers, Ferrero Roche boxes and old magazines.

Though the JEP objectives remain the same, the funds raised have increased due to the expansion of donors from school children to Trophies and Popular Vouchers families. Thanks be to God, our for being the Best Sales & Best efforts paid off as we won the Best Marketing Strategy Sales award for 2 consecutive years (Sales 2016:$300+ & 2017:$469). This year, we have also won the Best Marketing Strategy award, giving great joy to our little entrepreneurs and teachers in YMCA Sengkang Green. Last but not least, we must also thank our hardworking students and supportive parents who came to the event to witness this meaningful and successful event that our children are in. Finally, a big thank you to all our dedicated YMCA teachers who worked tirelessly behind the scene in training our little entrepreneurs and performers.

A definite highlight this year is when 14 of our students were able to stage a wonderful musical performance of instruments and medley of songs (“I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars) The students had 10 weeks of intensive training with the help of the trainers Mr Dinz & Mr DZ and our teachers Ms Loi, Ms Daniella and Ms Harriet. It was a great joy to receive recognition from the visiting MP, Mr Gan Thiam Poh and we were invited by Punggol CC to perform at another public event on 9th August 2017 – National Day. Every school holidays like in June 2017 , YMCA Sengkang Green Student Care Centre will have a theme every week divided into 3 lessons with activities of craft or games related to the topic. Along with that, there are outings or workshops catered to those who are interested to learn more outside the borders of the centre.
